Final: Boise State 53, San Diego State 56
The Broncos 10 game win streak and 17 game home streak fell tonight to a tough Aztecs team, but one that looked entirely beatable. The Broncos nearly sent it to overtime with a Webb 3 at the buzzer, but didn't you see our 3-point percentage tonight?! You will.
First Half
The first half was definitely...something. Boise State took a 26-25 lead into the locker room after a Chandler Hutchison buzzer beater was waved off because it didn't technically beat the buzzer. The Broncos shot just 33% in the first stanza but somehow led going into the break because, well...SDSU was also not fond of hitting FGs. The Aztecs 38% field goal percentage was modestly better, but the Broncos were able to get to the free throw line with more regularity. At the break, Chandler Hutchison led ALL scorers with 7 points and he hit just one field goal. Yes...the first half was a Gus Johnson fever dream...or to reference one of my more salient tweets from the first half:
An old school basketball game tonight at TBA...like before they had a 3-point line and 5'5" white guys were shooting into a peach basket.

Here are the full first half stats because I assume you're all masochists.
Second Half
Yeah, that wasn't much better. The Broncos were an absurd 0-14 from 3-point range before Nick Duncan hit a semi-meaningless tre with 21 seconds left. The Broncos fought hard, but ultimately couldn't get past the cold shooting and lax rebounding (42-30 in favor of the Aztecs) that got them into this mess in the first place. The Taco Bell Arena crowd almost willed the team to a come-from-behind win, but well...it just wasn't our night. Full game stats are below...but hold your nose.
James Webb had his becoming-the-norm double-double...but needed scoring help that just didn't arrive. San Diego State is very strong in the paint and the downtown game was non-existent. C'est la vie. The Broncos win streak will begin anew when they take on the god-awul SJSU on Wednesday and we can put this cold affair behind us. Go Broncos.
