Chalk this up as the homer in me, but I do not see that as a BYU win so much as a Boise State loss. Boise State had that game in hand and did nothing to ice it. I saw little from BYU that lead me to believe they won so much as Boise State doing things to lose it. But, what is done is done, let's make better decisions this week, improve and adjust, and come out ready for Idaho State. Now, let's check in on how all of our future Broncos did!
Nick Crabtree, TE, Huntington Beach HS (Huntington Beach, CA)
Huntington had another rough go Friday night suffering a loss to JSerra Catholic by a score of 39-8. They move to 1-2 on the season. I will update stats when they are available. HBHS takes on Moorpark on Friday.
Damarea Crockett, RB, Little Rock Christian Academy (Little Rock, AR)
The Warriors improved to 2-0 after a thrashing of White Hall to the tune of 48-13. Crockett finished with 104 yards on 16 carries and had 3 TDs.That's good for 6.5 yards per carry. LRCA looks to move to 3-0 this Friday when they take on Jacksonville.
Tyson Maeva, ILB, Cathedral Catholic High School (San Diego, CA)
The Dons bounced back this week with a win against Torrey Pines. They came out on top 28-14 moving to 1-2 on the season. I'll update stats for Tyson when they become available. Cathedral Catholic looks to notch another win this Friday when they play at Helix.
Reid Harrison-Ducros, CB, Heritage High School (Colleyville,TX)
Heritage doubled up on Lake Highlands last Friday, winning 42-28, improving to 2-1 on the season. Reid had 5 targets, 4 PBUs, 5 tackles, and 1 forced fumble. You'll notice below that he basically defines what it is to be "lock down". Heritage takes on Bowie this Friday.
Desmond Williams, OLB, Centennial High School (Corona, CA)
Centennial took down Orange Lutheran on Friday 35-14, improving to 3-0 on the season. Defensive stats were not entered for the game, however based on comments the Huskies were swarming the Lancers all night. Centennial looks to move to 4-0 this Friday against Notre Dame.
Ezra Cleveland, OT, Bethel HS (Spanaway, WA)
Ezra was named Bethel defensive Player of the Game after their 42-7 win over Mt. Rainer Friday for his play on the interior line. The Braves are now 2-0. I'll update stats when they become available. Bethel travels to Puyallup this Friday to try and move to 3-0.
Julian Carter, WR, Saguaro High School (Scottsdale, AZ)
The Sabercats move to 2-2 on the season after a drubbing of Dobson on Friday. The final score was 49-7. Julian had 2 catches for 18 yards.Saguaro travels to Westwood on Friday, looking to improve to 3-2.
Robert Mahone, RB, Prosper High School (Prosper, TX)
The Eagles dropped one on Friday to the Highland Scots, losing 35-28 and moving to 2-1 on the season. Mahone, though, had a banner night, toting the rock 27 times for 187 yards and 2 TDs. That's nearly 7 yards per carry. It looks like Prosper is off this week and will resume play against Sherman on Friday the 25th
Kole Bailey, OT, Twin Falls High School (Twin Falls, ID)
The Bruins are now 3-0 on the year after a 35-14 win over Wood River last Friday. No stats were registered for Kole, though that isn't uncommon for offensive lineman. The video below, though, reaffirms that there are no defensive tackles, only Kole Bailey. Twin Falls battles Hillcrest this Friday.
Robert Lewis, CB, Hawkins High School (Los Angeles, CA)
The Hawks Destroyed St. Bernard on Friday with a final score of 53-0. The Hawks stay perfect at 3-0 on the season. Robert contributed on both offense and defense with one reception for 40 yards and 4 tackles. Hawkins takes on Compton this Friday.
Chase Hatada, DT, Rocklin High School (Rocklin, CA)
The Thunder dropped their first of the season, losing 28-20 to Whitney. No stats for Chase this week as he was out with an injury. Rocklin hopes to bounce back at Sacramento on Saturday.
Micah Wilson, QB, Lincoln Christian High School (Tulsa, OK)
The Bulldogs coasted past Holland Hall 44-6 last week, improving to 2-0. Wilson was 7 of 12 for 121 yards and 3 TDs. To go along with that, he had 4 rushes for 53 yards, a tackle AND a 53 yard punt! What can't this kid do? Lincoln Christian plays Oklahoma Christian on Friday.
Derrion Grim, WR, Ronald E. McNair High School (Stockton, CA)
McNair smoked Liberty Ranch 40-14 on Friday, improving to 2-1. Grim had yet another pedestrian night with 9 catches for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns. That's an average of 27 yards per catch. He had a long of 59 yards. For the season, he has 33 catches for 706 yards and 14 total touchdowns, averaging 21.4 yards per catch. Not gonna lie, but Grim might be tough to hold on to. Hopefully he keeps in mind he could very well see immediate playing time as a true freshman.
A pretty good week for the future Broncos. Hopefully our Broncos can bounce back and make amends this week. GO BRONCOS!
