It seems like these are going faster the closer we get to G-Day. Let’s follow up with a guy that’s been around the program, just biding his time: #28 A.J. Richardson.

#28, A.J. Richardson, RS Freshman, WR

A.J. Richardson

Stats

Height: 6’0"

Weight: 209 lbs

High School: Narbonne High School, Harbor City, CA

How'd he get to the Blue™?

By hauling in TDs. He shunned offers from Cal (sorta), Duke, Houston, and nearly half go the MW to come to BSU. He has stuck around through two non-playing seasons as well, so his loyalty is definitely not in question. He was listed as a 3-star WR by Scout, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN.

Nickname

"Touchdown"

It’s what he does.

Look-a-like

Cleveland Brown

Cleveland Brown

That is, of course, if Cleveland Brown were physically and athletically gifted. Oh, and also if he weren't a cartoon.

Career Highlights

A.J. had a remarkable high school career. He was named a Semper Fidelis All-American, All-Marine League, all-city section and all-state his senior season after hauling in 60 passes for 1,000 yards and 18 TDs. He tacked on another 22 rushes for 121 yards and 4 touchdowns. That earned hi, a top 10 receiver ranking in the west by Scout.com. He caught 63 passes for 947 yards his junior season along with 21 rushes for 355 yards and a TD. His sophomore campaign he caught 60 passes for 700 yards and 7 TDs. Sounds like a pretty consistent player if you ask me.

2015 Prospectus

2015 Prospectus: stellar. I have all the faith in the world that AJ sees the field early and often this season. In 2013, his highlight tape was reason enough to get excited. It seemed like every time he touched the ball, he ended up in the end zone. He ran into a few roadblocks and took a greyshirt and redshirt season, but we will finally see him on the field this year. If you attended the spring game, you heard his name A LOT. With SWR nearing graduation day, it’s nice to see another kid stepping up as a playmaker. That may be very forward of me to say of a kid that has not played a rep at the college level, but he’s ready. I anticipate him to be on the two deep behind SWR, Anderson and Sperbeck. And honestly, the two deep is wide open. I don’t think Anderson will be the only fresh face we see this fall.

Is he on Twitter?

Yes he is. He’s a motivated kid. Gotta respect that.

Completely made up fact

While A.J. was incredibly productive in high school, it came with some superstitions. He has worn the same socks for every game without washing them. All 4 pairs of them.
