We are nearly done with the 30s here people. Just a little over a month until we may rejoice and bask in the glory that is Boise State football. Let’s check in with #31, Blake Gonzalez.
#31, Blake Gonzalez, RS Freshman, K
Stats
Height: 5’9"
Weight: 178 lbs
High School: San Clemente High School, San Clemente, CA
How'd he get to the Blue™?
Blake was offered a preferred walk-on spot with the Broncos as part of the 2014 class and he took it. I can find very little recruiting information on him. Neither Rivals nor Scout had info, and 247Sports just had a standard profile. Ah, the life of a special teams player.
Nickname
"The Cannon"
Seems fitting for a kicker. See above.
Look-a-like
Former Boise State head coach Chris Petersen
Career Highlights
4-year letter winner in football at San Clemente High School. He was named the Special Teams Player of the year his senior season after 30 or 39 kickoffs went for touchbacks. He went 5 for 6 on field goals with a long of 45 and 22 for 24 on PATs. He also shouldered punting duties, punting 26 times for an average of 33.7 yards per punt with 5 inside the 20. He also dabbled as a receiver, hauling in 17 passes for 210 yards. He lettered in lacrosse 3 years as well.
2015 Prospectus
Blake will be the back-up kicker to Tyler Rausa. This is not a bad thing at all. In fact, as a redshirt freshman, it’s a great thing. It will give him time to perfect his form and continue to learn from Tyler while we still have him. It will prepare him to take over the spot in two years when Tyler graduates. I can definitely see him sneaking in a few PATs or kickoffs if any games get out of hand and it's always good to have a back up in case of someone pulls a Gramatica.
Is he on Twitter?
Yes he is, though he doesn’t seem to be all that active.

Completely made up fact
Blake is the president and founder of the Boise State Hacky Sack Club. While their are only 4 members on the team, the BSHSC has held the MW title the last two years, beating the other team, SJHSC, by whatever score you keep for hacky sack.
