Under two weeks until kickoff. This is not a drill! Today we'll look at #13 on the Boise State roster to commemorate the 13 remaining days until UW hits The Blue (literally and figuratively)—Jeremy McNichols
#13, Jeremy McNichols, Sophomore, RB
Stats
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 205 lbs.
High School: Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Santa Margarita, CA
How'd he get to The Blue™?
McNichols almost made a terrible mistake and signed with the Utes, but ultimately came to the blue side after a late January official visit to Boise State. McNichols earned first team all-league, all-region and all-state honors after a stellar senior season where he racked up 989 all-purpose yards and scored 10 TDs. As a junior, McNichols had 366 all-purpose yards and scored 4 TDs and as a sophomore, he had 414 receiving yards and scored 5 TDs. McNichols also held offers from Utah (obviously), Colorado State, and Fresno State.
Nickname
"The Weapon"
Until it's decommissioned, this is what it's gonna be.
Look-alike
A weapon (oddly enough, a medieval mace)
Career Highlights
Appeared in 9 games for the Broncos as a true freshman in 2014 and scored two touchdowns. Named first team all-state, all-region, and all-conference as a senior in 2013. First team All-Moore League in 2012. 1,811 career all-purpose yards and 19 TDs.
2015 Prospectus
Last year I stated that McNichols was a difficult player to characterize as he'd played both wide receiver and running back in high school. Well, with 9 games under his belt and going into his second full season with the Broncos, I don't think that task has gotten any easier. McNichols looks like the favorite to win the running back job, but his stats were so remarkably well-balanced last year (17 rushes for 159 yards and 15 catches for 155) that it seems like a crime not to sneak him out of the backfield often to see what develops. Frankly, in terms of build and skill set, McNichols reminds me a lot of Doug Martin. Now, I'm not saying McNichols will be a first-round draft pick or anything...but he's up 15 lbs. from last year's listed weight to physically resemble the hamster more and some of the pass plays he was in on last season remind me of that certain someone. Whether he has a Martin-esque year in term of numbers remains to be seen, but we're going to see a LOT of The Weapon this season and it should be fun to watch. Once his number of touches approach that of a feature back, I don't think a 1,000 yard season is too much of a stretch, but obviously the way the Broncos choose to utilize their "stable" this season wil determine much of that. Hey! Maybe we'll hae two thousand yard rushers!
Is he on Twitter?
Good feeling being back on the blue #GoodEats

Yes, and he's not shying away from his nickname like another certain someone
Completely made up fact
While the rest of the team flies to away games, McNichols has to take the bus. It isn't because of a John Madden-esque fear of flying, but simply because there are no Weapons allowed on the plane.
