Boise State numerical roster countdown 2015: Day 14, Kaleb Hill

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

This countdown has reaffirmed to me that our defense is going to be downright nasty this year. Today we highlight a young member of that defense, #14 Kaleb Hill.

#14, Kaleb Hill, RS Freshman, DE

Kaleb Hill

Stats

Height: 6’1"

Weight: 237 lbs

High School: Samuel Clemens High School, SchertzEl Paso, TX

How'd he get to the Blue™?

By decimating the population of quarterbacks in Texas. Part of my process for writing these countdowns is the review the players highlight tape to refresh my memory, especially for players that have played very little or are just coming off a redshirt. I’ll have Kaleb’s film below, but I have to warn you, it is brutal. But the good kind of brutal. In fact, his film is very reminiscent of a recent BSU player who now plays for Dallas: Demarcus Lawrence. Maybe it is bold of me to say so, but it’s true. Kaleb was a 3-star recruit according to Scout, Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN with offers from Vanderbilt, Colorado, McNeese State, UTSA and Nevada.

Nickname

Havoc

Yup, this seems fitting.

Career Highlights

Kaleb wore a red shirt last year, but the years prior were impressive. While at Samuel Clemens HS, Kaleb was a two-time San Antonio Express News Defensive Player of the Week, named first-team all-district and second-team all-area. He recorded 75 tackles, 30 by himself, 20 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and four pass break ups. Yeah, that’s many much things, all of them things of the destructive variety. As a junior, he had 4 sacks, four fumble recoveries and an interception return for a 52 yard touchdown.

2015 Prospectus

While our D-line is loaded, we all know how the coaches like to mix it up and keep guys fresh. While he is listed as a DE, I believe he is slated to play STUD, but I could be wrong. Right now, Gabe Perez is the only player listed at STUD on the roster, but Kamalei will be "the guy" there with Gabe being a close-ish second. Tyler Horn is listed at DT, but he's likely to move back out to traditional DE with Rondell McNair in the mix. That’s about where it is, though, so depending on how fall camp goes, Kaleb and Jabril Frazier could both see the field for some destructive fun. I honestly can’t wait to see the MW QBs cry when they play this defensive line. It will be all sorts of fun.

Is he on Twitter?

Yes he is

Completely made up fact

Kaleb has a twin, Kolin, who is enrolled at Texas Tech. What most people DON’T know is they are actually TRIPLETS. Their other brother’s name is Jeff. They don’t talk about him much…
