2015 Boise State Women's Soccer Preview

The Broncos open up the season in a few days. Catch up on what the team will be looking forward to this fall.

2014 Summary

Last season the Broncos went 9-9-3 with a 2-1 loss to New Mexico in the first round of the MWC Championship. The Broncos went in as the sixth, and last, seed against the number three seed New Mexico.

Boise State had two players on the MWC All-Conference First team:

  • Mikhaila Bowden (a two year selection)
  • Brooke Heidemann (a three year selection)
Boise State had seven players on the Academic All-MWC team:
  • Dominique Banks
  • Bekah Carrasquer
  • Allie Cummins
  • Hailey DeVries
  • Brooke Heidemann
  • Kelsey Nicassio
  • Shannon Schueren
Boise State landed players in the top five statistical categories of five out of six major categories:

Attacking
  • Assists -- Kayla Tucker; five total; fifth in conference
  • Shots -- Shannon Schueren; 48 total; fifth in conference
Defending
  • Saves --  Janelle Flores; 81 total; first in conference
  • Shutouts -- Janelle Flores; six total; second in conference
  • Goals Average Against -- Janelle Flores; 0.95; first in conference
Boise State snagged several player of the week awards.
  • Brooke Heidemann -- Offensive
  • Janelle Flores --  2x Defensive
  • Mikhaila Bowden --  Defensive

2015 Preview

Head Coach Jim Thomas enters his third year with the Broncos with an overall record of 22-16-6.

The Broncos are predicted to finish sixth in the preseason MWC coaches' poll, with one first place vote.

Behind three time all-MWC First Team leader, Brooke Heidemann, the Broncos look to improve upon last year's finish.
