74 days until Boise State kicks off. That means we get some more O-line talk!: #74 Archie Lewis.

#74, Archie Lewis, RS Sophomore, OL

Height: 6' 3"

Weight: 281 lbs

High School: Rancho Cucamunga HS, Rancho Cucamunga, CA

How'd he get to the Blue™?

Lewis was a standout offensive tackle and sometimes tight end at Rancho Cucamonga. Initially set on signing with New Mexico State, Lewis accepted a grayshirt offer from Boise State once the NMSU offer fell through. Lewis joined the Broncos in the Spring of 2013 and used the 2013 season to redshirt.

Here is his highlight reel from high school.

Just do a normal Google search of "Archie Lewis". EVERYONE is named Archie Lewis.

Career Highlights

A bit on the light side so far. Appeared in eleven games as a RS freshman, starting five. While in high school was second team All-Baseline League at offensive tackle.

2015 Prospectus

Not losing anyone on the offensive line to graduation--or career ending injuries--is great for continuity, consistency, and a green quarterback. Unfortunately it is none too kind to players looking for quality time. Lewis did find starting time last year but due to injuries to other linemen. Showing his versatility, of the five starts he had, four were left tackle and the the other was right. Having that experience and flexibility will undoubtedly prove to be an asset going forward as there always seems to be someone getting the injury bug. But may end up hurting as he does not get to "dedicate" his time to one particular position. It is comforting to know that the "next man up" has been there before and can fill in admirably.

I root for every player that puts on a Boise State uniform, and I hope they have nothing but success, but unfortunately SOMETHING has to give regarding playing time. And it could come at the cost of either Lewis getting said time, or someone else on the line. Odhiambo had the fewest amount of starts last year with nine. The rest? 14 for Averill, Henry, Yakoo, and 13 for Baggett. If no one gets injured (fingers crossed) it will take some mighty fine performances over the next few months to knock off the, seemingly, entrenched starters. (Though I am going to be honest that it would not hurt my feelings considering the BEST player would be rewarded with playing time.)

Is he on Twitter?

While there are several Archie Lewis accounts on Twitter, could not find what I thought was his.

Completely made up fact

Though the saying "never trust a man with two first names" normally does ring true, Archie Lewis is most assuredly an exception. He is a national champion "truth teller" whose abilities are only rivaled by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Just do not ask him what he thinks of your haircut.
