We've got 81 days until we find out if we're going to be deliriously happy, or pretty bummed. But we have a (currently) unassigned number, so we'll go with -- Austin Cottrell
#81, Austin Cottrell, Sophomore, WR
Stats
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 200
High School: Mountain Ridge HS, Glendale, AZ / Scottsdale (Ariz.) CC
How'd he get to the Blue™?
Apparently sensing a need for a tallish WR, the coaching staff found, and nabbed, someone to fill said need. Cottrell had an offer from Texas State and some interest from Kansas State and Colorado. He is coming in as a true Sophomore and has the ability to redshirt this year and play three seasons.
Nickname
"Little Papi"
Though at 6' 3" 200 lbs, I doubt he is that little.
Look-a-like
Some dude that plays for the Red Sox.
Career Highlights
Had twelve catches for 108 yards with one touchdown as a freshman for Scottsdale CC. But the true highlight was being able to wear a jersey with "Artichokes" on the front (honestly, those are the first adidas designed football uniforms I haven't hated). In high school Cottrell had 15 receptions for 260 yards and four touchdowns.
2015 Prospectus
Though he did not quite "light" it up in his high school, or juco, years I want to believe the the coaching staff has found a diamond in the rough, ready to sparkle! (Like that? Just came up with it.) He adds some some experience, or at least some game time, to the roster that has some space to fill and is looking for some more bodies. SWR, Sperbeck, and Anderson will have a lot of attention, so it will be to the team's benefit if there are some guys that can fill solid roles and be there for whichever new QB gets the starting spot. What he lacks in the stat department, he will make up for in size. There are currently only two players in the WR corps that are over 6' 1". Cottrell and Barr both at 6' 3", both coincidentally juco transfers. While it is obvious size is not everything when it comes to catching footballs, it does not hurt. You know those corner fade routes we all like? Well. The Bronco catching those was 6' 3" and shares the same first name of today's highlighted Bronco. Just sayin'. While it is clear a WR does not have to be a real tall to be successful (especially for the Broncos) it would be helpful if said player can get UP to go GET the ball. Sounds like Cottrell is anxious to prove himself to the coaching staff and everyone else. I hope his success matches his drive.
Is he on Twitter?

Going to have to agree.
Completely made up fact
Being from Arizona, the movie Raising Arizona is his favorite (natch). Inspired, Cottrell tried the mustache made famous by Nicolas Cage. Did not turn out so well. So Cottrell had to settle for the facial hair he sports now. Good choice.
