Wake Up, Bronco Nation: 4/21/14

Boise State University

Good Morning, Bronco Nation and happy Monday. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for storyline after storyline of Bronco news. This weekend, records were set, seasons were ended, more records were set and we brought home a national champion. So, get your popcorn ready and let's dive right in.

All-American Honors:

Being the first to do something at a great school is always a great achievement at any school. Gymnastic's Ciera Perkins has claimed her first and the school's first All-American honors on the floor exercise. Perkins was one of two Broncos to compete this weekend. HERE you can see the same routine that earned her AA honors. Although a different meet, it was same score and same routine.

FILA Jr National Champ:

Austin Dewey, Idaho native, brought home a national title in Greco-Roman wrestling this weekend. Boise State had 4 wrestlers competing this weekend and did extremely well. 3 freshman and a sophomore fought hard and brought home a National Championship, two third places and a seventh.

A Mountain West Record:

Emma Bates set a MW record this weekend at the MT. SAC relays. She ran a 5.000 meter (just over 3 miles) in 15:33. Very proud to say that she is a Bronco. Track is looking extremely great this year; setting records every weekend.

More Track News:

Over in Eugene, Oregon the other half of the Track team was competing in the Oregon Relays. Sprinters and jumpers competed and did well for themselves. Bringing home a fourth place finish in the 4X100m relay with a team of all freshman. Great Job Broncos.

Closing Out Strong:

Boise State's Men's tennis ended their season this weekend with a clean sweep of the Air Force Academy. Also, Handling University of San Francisco very well in a 4-1 victory to end the season off strong.

That's all that I have for you today, Bronco Nation. Kick off your week strong and remember

It's great to be alive, It's great to be a Bronco
