Final score - New Mexico 84, Boise State 75
Turning point
With a little more than two minutes to go, Cameron Bairstow grabbed an offensive rebound and bulled his way in for a reverse lay-up finally putting the Bronco threat to an end. Boise State recovered from an abysmal first half (sound familiar?) and got it within single digits numerous times, only to see New Mexico sink a clutch, momentum-killing basket on every occasion.
Ramifications
Another sign that this team just isn't as good as we hoped they'd be... but that doesn't mean they can't be. Am I waffling a bit? The Broncos fall to 3-3 in MWC play and have again failed to notch a marquee win. Yes, they'll have the opportunity to knock off the Lobos when they come to Taco Bell Arena on February 12th. But, this loss guarantees that they won't be able to pick up a road win against the two top teams in the league, along with San Diego State, making Boise State's margin of error for an NCAA Tournament bid painfully small moving forward.
