Editor's Note: The game between Boise State and Nevada can be seen right here on OBNUG, streaming live, in partnership with the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders.
Well, after dropping that turd of a game against Wyoming at Taco Bell Arena on Saturday, the Broncos do not look like an NCAA Tournament team. They look like a fringe bubble team at absolute best. Boise State rolls into Reno having dropped 31 spots (from 46 before playing SDSU to 77) in RPI according to ESPN which falls well below the likely threshold for tournament teams.
For what it's worth, I think Wyoming will serve as a wake up call. Before they had lost to some pretty good teams (Kentucky, Iowa State, and San Diego State) and a close game where the ball didn't particularly bounce their way (St. Mary's). Each of those games could be shrugged off with a "We'll get 'em next time" attitude. The Wyoming game, however, was just putrid and won't be ignored. I give Wyoming credit, but Boise State did not play well and suffered an NCAA-résumé crippling loss because of it.
This team, the coaches, the players, the fans, the administrators... everybody... has big aspirations for this season and a loss to Nevada would make it nearly impossible for their goals to be accomplished. I fully expect Boise State to win this game, taking out a little anger on the Wolf Pack in the process.
