2013 Recruit Roundup: September 9, 2012

New, comments

The bye week was grueling for Bronco fans, but all of our current crop of verbal commits played this weekend.

Join me after the jump to see how they all fared.

Ryan Finley, QB, Paradise Valley High School (Phoenix, AZ)

Finley's squad suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Liberty on Thursday evening—dropping the contest 65-31. Finley didn't have the best of games, either...throwing 3 picks to just 2 TDs. Still, Finley is off to a blistering pace on the season, with already 1,022 yards and 8 TDs through just 3 games. Finley will lead the Trojans (2-1) against Thunderbird next week.

Joe Martarano, MLB, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

Martarano was re-instated after an erroneous ejection against Ontario and was able to play Saturday in the Football for Families showcase in Northern California. Fruitland beat the much larger California team from Casa Roble 29-22 behind Martarano's 153 passing yards (8-for-10) and 63 rushing yards (which included the go-ahead TD). Fruitland will again cross state lines this weekend to play Baker City (OR).

Alec Dhaenens, TE, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

Dhaenens injured his knee in the win against Casa Roble (hyperextension) and tried to return, but was unable to continue. Coach Bruce Schlaich doesn't expect Dhaenens to miss any significant time with the injury.

Jack Austin, WR, Chino Hills High School (Chino Hills, CA)

Chino Hills now has a "1" in every category, as they lost to Tesoro 24-14 on Friday evening to move to 1-1-1 on the year. Despite the loss, Austin had his best game of the season...with 8 catches for 112 yards. He now has 194 receiving yards on the season. Chino Hills will play West Covina this weekend.

Aaron Baltazar, RB, Eastlanke High School (Chula Vista, CA)

Our newest known recruit was in action on Friday night against Scripps Ranch and his team came away with a 42-0 win. In their first game of the season, they lost to Helix 28-6, so the Titans are sitting at 1-1 on the year. They'll play Escondido this week and in the meantime, I'll continue to try to track down Baltazar's season and single-game rushing stats.

Tanner Vallejo, LB, Nevada Union High School (Grass Valley, CA)

Vallejo's team dropped to 2-1 on the season on Friday night, as they lost a heartbreaker to Pleasant Grove 29-28. Vallejo continued to have a dominant season defensively, however, and racked up another 17 tackles on the night to move his total to 37 on the year. Tanner also rushed 9 times for 54 yards and a score in the defeat.

Durrant Miles, LB/DE, Bingham High School (South Jordan, UT)

After the sting of a one-point loss last week, Miles' and his Bingham team reversed course and won by 1-point on Friday night against out-of-state Valor Christian (Andrew Pint's alma mater). Miles had 6 tackles and one sack on the evening and now has 18 tackles and 5 sacks on the year.

Mat Boesen, LB/TE, West High School (Torrance, CA)

West is 2-0 on the year after beating up Torrance 52-14 on Friday. Unfortunately, I still can't find individual stats on Boesen, either defensively or offensively. If anyone has access, please let me know. West will clash with El Segundo this week.

Justin Taimatuia, DT, Fort Scott Community College (KS)

Really struggling to find much on how JT's year is going thus far as the Fort Scott site is down...but I know the team was 1-1 going into last night's tussle with Butler CC (Demarcus Lawrence's old school). I'll get you all up to speed as soon as I find a few things out.

Andrew Tercek, OL, East Central High School (San Antonio, TX)

East Central destroyed Marshall 50-0 on Friday and moved to 2-0 on the season. They'll play Brennan this weekend.

Eli McCullough, OT, Rocky Mountain High School (Meridian, ID)

McCullough's Rocky Mountain team defeated Vallivue on Friday night by a score of 17-14 and are now 2-0 on the season. They'll gear up to play Cole Valley Christian this next weekend.

That's it for this week...but hopefully we'll be adding to our list of recruits as the season wears on. f you have any stats, info, or otherwise to report, I would greatly appreciate it. Just send HERE.
