2013 Recruit Roundup: September 16, 2012

New, comments

Boise State was back in the win column yesterday and all seems right with the world. You might be wondering how next year's crop of recruits are faring. Not bad...not bad at all.

Join me after the jump to see updated team records and individual statistics for the class of 2013.

Ryan Finley, QB, Paradise Valley High School (Phoenix, AZ)

Finley had another strong showing, but it wasn't enough to get the W, and his team dropped their second straight contest Friday evening against Thunderbird. Finley passed for 252 yards and 2 TDs in the loss and also threw one pick. Through 4 games, Paradise Valley is 2-2 and Finley has thrown for 1,274 yards and 10 TDs. They'll play Moon Valley this Friday.

Joe Martarano, MLB, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

Martarano led the Grizzlies to another win on Friday night...this time against Bakery City (OR). Fruitland defeated Baker 35-14 and the squad is now 4-0 on the year. Martarano rushed for 53 yards and 2 TDs and was a perfect 4-4 through the air, for 36 yards. Defensive statistics were not found.

Alec Dhaenens, TE, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

Dhaenens got some bad news this week—he has a torn ACL. Dhaenens will miss the remainder of the season and in all likelihood, his high school athletic career is over. Hopefully, Alec should be rehabbed by the time next Fall's camp begins—but since Dhaenens is done for 2012, I'll simply put a "DNP" under his name for the remainder of the year. Fruitland's team record will be covered in Martarano's highlights.

Jack Austin, WR, Chino Hills High School (Chino Hills, CA)

Chino Hills is now 2-1-1 after beating up West Covina on Friday night 46-14. Full stats have not yet been recorded, but I do know that Austin had at least one TD in the win. Prior to Friday's outing, Austin had 191 receiving yards on the year with a TD. I'll update his new totals as soon as they become available. Chino Hills plays Great Oak this Friday.

Aaron Baltazar, RB, Eastlanke High School (Chula Vista, CA)

Baltazar had 177 yards rushing on just 18 carries and scored 3 times as Eastlake defeated Escondido 55-27 on Friday night. Eastlake is 2-1 on the year and will take on Steele Canyon (Chanceller James and Mario Yakoo's alma mater) this weekend.

Tanner Vallejo, LB, Nevada Union High School (Grass Valley, CA)

Vallejo continued his torrid pace and Nevada Union got back in the win column on Friday night as they survived a 38-30 shootout against Chico. Vallejo notched 9 tackles,1 sack and a fumble recovery in the win and also scored a rushing TD. Tanner has 46 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 sack and 2 rushing TDs through 4 games. Nevada Union plays Elk Grove on the 21st.

Durrant Miles, LB/DE, Bingham High School (South Jordan, UT)

Bingham defeated Cottonwood 34-14 on Friday night to improve to 4-1 on the year. Led by Alabama-bound QB Cooper Bateman, Cottonwood just had no answer for the Miles and the Bingham D. Full game stats were not available yet for this game. Bingham plays Riverton next weekend.

Mat Boesen, LB/TE, West High School (Torrance, CA)

West dismantled El Segundo on Friday night 54-24 and remain undefeated on the year, at 3-0. West recorded 11 sacks in the contest and five of them belonged to Boesen. Full season stats for Boesen are still a mystery until somebody inputs them.

Justin Taimatuia, DT, Fort Scott Community College (KS)

Taimatuia's Greyhounds lost to Coffeyville CC in double overtime yesterday and moved to 1-3 on the season. Statistics for Saturday's game were unavailable, but through the first 3 games of the season, Taimatuia had 9 tackles, with 2 for loss.

Andrew Tercek, OL, East Central High School (San Antonio, TX)

East Central finally took their first loss of the year and now sit at 3-1 with Judson coming up on Friday. Tercek's squad were defeated 24-0 by Brennan.

Eli McCullough, OT, Rocky Mountain High School (Meridian, ID)

Rocky Mountain survived a shootout with Meridian on Friday night to stay undefeated. The 3-0 Grizzlies rushed for 298 yards in the 32-28 win thanks, in part, to solid O-line play. Rocky Mountain plays undefeated Bishop Kelly this Friday.

That's it for this week...but hopefully we'll be adding to our list of recruits as the season wears on. If you have any stats, info, or otherwise to report, I would greatly appreciate it. Just send HERE.
