Joe Kellogg and Spencer Gerke to take snaps at center

In the wake of Corey Yriarte's season ending injury, Kellogg and Gerke will both work at center during fall camp to build depth there. Matt Paradis enters the fall camp as the starter from spring camp. Also of note is that Jake Van Ginkel will sit out fall camp and be back with the team when school starts August 27th due to roster restrictions. Hopefully this means that Van Ginkel can work on his own and the coaching staff already has enough confidence in him. That's how I'm going to choose to interpret that situation and please don't burst my bubble.

Jake Broyles back after injury and ready to compete for starting job

Broyles had won the right guard job last year, but was injured during the third game of the year and missed the rest. Glad to hear he's feeling better and with the recent loss of Yriarte, the offensive line needs the depth. Also good to hear that Michael Atkinson is pressuring the quarterbacks. True freshman receiver Shane Williams-Rhodes was making some plays also. Check out his highlights again to remind yourself what he's capable of.

NCAA endorses new penalty structure

They are proposing moving from a two tier penalty structure to a four tier penalty structure and stiffer penalties like the ones levied against Penn State. They also want to expand their staff from 10 to 24 people. While I think we can all agree that the NCAA needs reforming, I hope this is a step in the right direction of clearer rules and stricter enforcement and not just a blatant power grab by the NCAA in the wake of the Penn State scandal.

Jerry Jones is a Tyrone Crawford fan

Jones singled out Crawford after watching a Cowboys practice. Crawford was getting some work in with the second stringers. Meanwhile, Kellen Moore is impressing Detroit offensive coordinator Scott Linehan at the Lion's camp. Linehan loves Kellen's offensive aptitude. Maybe Linehan should let EA know about that. They obviously have shortchanged him.
