The Worldwide Leader's sportified US Weekly printed its college football preview issue, featuring an obvious-to-the-point-of-embarrassment SEC theme and a ranking of the Top 25 teams in the country. Boise State was 24th. Joe Southwick got his picture in there. The headline pun was "Gone With the Wins."
And then actual football analysis followed. The chart below shows the likelihood of Boise State finishing the year with a particular record, ranging from undefeated (yay!) to 7-5 (counseling!). Beside the chart are three big games for you to begin worrying about.
The consensus of the stat gurus is that Boise State is projected to win 9.9 games.
The consensus of the talking heads is that Matt Miller will have a great season and that either Joe Southwick, Jimmy Laughrea, or Grant Hedrick will lead a Boise State offense that will continue to throw the ball all the time.
It's hard to fully preview a team with a 75-word spread in the back of a magazine, but considering how ESPN did it, what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Prefer Sports Illustrated?
Yeah, I prefer Sports Illustrated, too.
