Okay
so here is the question. Will the official capacity of the stadium be 37K for this season or with the North and South endzone expansions will it be higher capacity. Nothing adds up with the original proposal anymore so I was just curious.

Read the very last sentence.
— From Wikipedia: “In late August 2010, new expansion plans were revealed for Bronco Stadium. The first stages were to include adding a new facility to the north endzone to house the football offices, weight room, training room, equipment room and locker room. Plans also included a 13,200 seat grandstand. The later stages of the expansion plan included removal of the track, lowering of the field, and adding 3,300 seats in front of the first deck of the stadium, completion of the south endzone horseshoe, building of an east side skybox, and renovation of the east side concourse. The total cost for all planned expansions was around $100 million. The total seating capacity for a fully expanded Bronco Stadium was estimated to be around 53,000. The Boise State athletic director aims to have the north endzone complex open in time for the 2013 season and does not resemble the 2010 plans.”

Well, I would HOPE the AD doesn't resemble the 2010 plans

Here is what I think
The capacity for this year will be 37k. I think for this year they are keeping the nez one level but will build the second level next year. The sez I think eventually they will connect it and have two levels.

Pre-expansion capacity: 33,500
2012 expansion adds 3,300 seats.
Grand total seats, 2012: 36,800.

I don't like the discontinuity...
In the NW corner. I really hope that is not permanent…

If you mean the gap between the bleachers...
I think it’s probably permanent. That’s the space designated for emergency vehicle access to the field.

Oh right we can probably blame Dan Paul for the need of ambulances.

Those corner bleachers are just on an island, should be connected on one side or the other...
They also should be able to have a tunnel in the future for emergency vehicles.

I think the bleachers are connected on the left side.
The framework is partially there. It just hasn’t wholly been filled in yet. Supposedly, people will have access to enter the new bleachers through the main stadium structure.

The bleachers are absolutely not connected on the left side I was in the sky center this week.

It's for the visiting team.
If it helps to keep them out of the main stands, hooray!

Yeah, the floating bleachers in sections 12, 13, 14, and 15 (NW corner)
are for visiting teams, along with Section 11 and half of 10 at the end of the main stands (black on the seating chart).

I don't think they are done with it yet
or this might just be for this season.

I think you are right.
Its a quick and dirty build for season. As far as the NW corner it could havea tunnel at ground level later with stadium going over the top. Being open to the sky is temporary. Why spend all that money for a high school bleacher section an a 30+ million project when 53,000 seats is the completion goal. 2013 will show the next stage probably at 40,000+. Its a pay as you go project to the extent that ground work is being completed first while dollars are arranged for the big stuff. It would be nice to have an update on the over-all stadium build progression and final look. Just like the teams its going through progressions player by player.

I don't know if
the south endzone bleachers will ever be comparable in height to the old stadium.
by Jesterrace on Jul 27, 2025 11:42 AM PDT up reply actions
Two years actually, and already not the same bleachers.
First the football complex is vastly different. Second the new bleachers in the NW corner curve and connect to the lower west side, and are separate from the NEZ bleachers. And, third, like it or not the south horseshoe apparently won’t be completed as shown. At least not for another ten years. Maybe.

Honestly, I’m not impressed with the expansion. Stop Putting in cheap bleacher seats. Make permanent concrete seats like everything else.
by bleedblue4life on Jul 27, 2025 5:06 PM PDT reply actions
Concrete is too expensive, that is why few schools use concrete anymore.
And besides, you want want permanent? These metal stands are permanent. And they aren’t cheap.

Patience!
Do you not think that BSU knows what it’s doing? I believe they do. They haven’t been wrong thus far. Like Trapp said, pay as you go, that way you only owe yourself.

We can also literally pay as you go, as well.
If you don’t have season tickets, you have NO reason to complain.
If you have season tickets but not in those sections, you have little reason to complain.

Still looks like a good view to me.
Of course, I’ve always liked the end zone seats.
When the Broncos score, I can see the jubilation on they’re faces, and when they score the other way, I can imagine that as well!

I prefer endzones as well.
You see more of the play, but less of the gain, which is fine by me. I see what the QB and Safeties. I think sideline seats are more for entertainment/did-we-make-it fans.

I read somewhere awhile back that the reason they aren't ever going to finish the double-decker horseshoe (at either end) is because of current building codes.
The slant of the upper-deck is at too steep of an angle and could never be built today.
