But, you know what? I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably continue to say it to my grave. The very fact that Boise State University is even MENTIONED in such discussions is, to this old Bronco, simply astounding. I’m one of those who bridges the old days of playing Snow, and Carbon, and even Everett, to the current practice of opening against Virginia Tech, and Georgia, and Michigan State. We’ve come a long way in a relatively short period of time, and I’ve enjoyed the ride immensely.

The country seems to be getting used to the idea of Boise State. Our name is bandied about at all levels, in all venues, on all blogs and sports publications. Regardless of what is said about BSU, whether it be pro, con, or meh!, that kind of public awareness is invaluable.

Like everyone, I wish for at least an eight-game playoff, and I firmly believe it will happen down the road. Frankly, though, I don’t think I’ll be around to see it—but you young folks should. I just want Bronco Nation to appreciate how utterly amazing this entire story has turned out to be. Don’t ever take it for granted, and don’t ever become complacent or feel entitled. Broncos work for what they have received, and that goes for fans as much as anyone. Like you, I’m proud of that “giant shoulder chip.”

In the meantime, I’ll hope we can qualify for one of the four “famous” bowls, and I promise to be grateful and not get greedy. Folks—they’re talking about us, and I’m giddy with excitement!
