You channel surfers may have noticed Olympic trials invading your TV in recent nights, which means the build-up to the Summer Olympics (beginning July 27) has begun in earnest. Boise State will have a representative in the Games. Kurt Felix will compete in the decathlon for Grenada, so let's go Grenada! Also, where is Grenada?

Should Boise State get an Olympic medal from Felix, the Broncos will match the ex-flagshippers to the North who claimed Vandal alumni Dan O'Brien's decathlon gold at the Atlanta Olympics. When it comes to Olympic memories of Idaho's one shining moment, I have a hard time remembering O'Brien and the Atlanta Games. What I do remember is the build-up to Barcelona the following cycle when he and decathlon rival Dave Johnson were billed as Olympic advertising gold. Then O'Brien went and didn't quality for the Olympics. What does that say about me as a person that I only remember the failures of former Vandal athletes?

What are your favorite Olympic memories? You can cherry-pick with the Dream Team or Rulon Gardner or Michael Johnson gold shoes, or you can get bonus points for going way off book with something random like an equestrian intant classic. Share your memories in the comments. More Felix talk to come later this summer when the Olympics actually begin. In the meantime, get your Bob Costas immunity built up.
