As much as we like to badmouth dUI...
this makes total economic sense as well as provides an opportunity for their alumni base to be energized about their athletics again. It is sad to see how the administration has destroyed what once was a great athletics department.

Good find, Mikrino
Yes, we’ve been articulating this idea for quite some time. For those who missed it, we had a thorough discussion last November:
https://www.obnug.com/2011/11/2/2534720/poll-whence-the-vandals
A lot of good comments on that thread, and 72 percent agreed with the conclusion arrived at by the Times-News, who said:
Staying at the FBS level merely to save face is a horrible idea.
Perhaps it’s a large, bitter pill to swallow for the state’s flag-dinghy institution, but Robb Akey has demonstrated that his mouth is large enough to accommodate it.

Oh, right in the (bw)in giblets!
On the other hand, this is the only logical move dUI can make. Denial is not a river in Egypt, candle fans.

As much as I greatly agree with the basic premise of dUIgoing back to the Big Sky...
I also greatly enjoy the steaming mug of Schadenfreude each season that their pathetic football program gives me. O, the existential agony!

what makes me laugh.
is that the writer even pointed out that BYU wouldn’t come play in the Kibbie Dome.

I loved when that decision was made by BYU because it followed on the heels of BSU's decision to abstain from Moscow
It kind of took the heat off of us.

The whole thing almost makes me feel bad for them...

and, see, i think even almost is too far.
serves them right.
speaking as a homer BSU fan, i think they had it coming. they shouldn’t have made the jump to begin with and it didn’t make sense.
speaking as just an Idahoan who has concern for the well-being of the state and the type of education the state provides and the people being taught, it just makes sense. their football program is a money pit and, like the article said, just makes fiscal sense to drop down.
when you bring up the trouncing of the football team, they always, ALWAYS , bring up education. Fine. then do the EDUCATED thing and go where you can compete and aren’t losing money. (or at least needing funding from the academic side to stay afloat.)
Course, this means that they’ll probably lose Akey.
ah well.

And the education argument from vandulls is also specious
Their law school isn’t even ranked in the top 300 in the nation. Sure, they have more post-grad programs than BSU, but that’s to be expected given the age of the school. Any stupid vandull claiming that a basic undergrad degree is better than BSU’s is simply delusional. But the whole alumni is delusional.

But...
I hear their horticulture program is “up and coming”…
Maybe that explains all of the self-defenestration.

I need a new dictionary.
Prior to going to your link on defenestration, I looked it up and found it to be cutting a hole in the one of the bones in the ear. Why on earth would ce’sped azul be highlighting such a weird activity? and then the Aha moment after reading the wikipedia def. Good grief.
Just think how uninformed people who don’t read OBNUG are! Thanks for opening my window, ce’sped.
