2013 Recruit Roundup: December 2nd, 2012

After a two-week break from the roundup, we're back with a few new commits and a few more prep seasons that have come to an end.

Ryan Finley, QB, Paradise Valley High School (Phoenix, AZ)

Season over - Final stats: 3,442 yards through the air, 35 TDs and just 8 interceptions. On the ground, he accounted for another 3 scores and 282 rushing yards.

Joe Martarano, MLB, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

Fruitland made the state finals, but were upset by Shelley in the 3A championship two weeks ago to finish their season at 12-1 and as runners-up. Martarano was named the league offensive and defensive player of the year after the season was wrapped and this week was named the Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year...there's your silver lining.

Alec Dhaenens, TE, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)

DNP (ACL)

Jack Austin, WR, Chino Hills High School (Chino Hills, CA)

Season over - Final stats: 1,128 receiving yards and 6 TDs. Team finished 7-3-1

Aaron Baltazar, RB, Eastlake High School (Chula Vista, CA)

Eastlake rebounded from missing out on a league championship and worked their way through the playoffs to the CIF championship game. Baltazar rushed for 3 TDs and maybe more importantly, 3 clock-killing first downs in the 4th quarter and Eastlake was able to win defeat Mission Hills 21-14 on Friday night for an improbable state title. Baltazar rushed 30 times for 138 yards and 3 scores in the win...no team had rushed for more than 100 yards all year against Mission Hills. Eastlake was propelled into the championship game on Baltazar's legs as well, as he had 275 rushing yards and 4 TDs against Grossmont the weekend prior. Baltazar finished the year with 1,851 yards rushing and 23 TDs.

Tanner Vallejo, LB, Nevada Union High School (Grass Valley, CA)

Season over - Final stats: 129 tackles, 1 sack, 5 hurries, 1 INT, 1 PBU, 2 forced fumbles and 3 recoveries. Offensively, Vallejo rushed for 414 yards and 8 scores.

Durrant Miles, LB/DE, Bingham High School (South Jordan, UT)

Season over - Final stats: 64 tackles, 10 sacks, 1 INT, 12 QB Hurries, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 PBUs and a safety.

Mat Boesen, LB/TE, West High School (Torrance, CA)

West upset Mira Costa and Atascadero in the playoffs to reach the CIF championship game on Friday night against Palos Verdes, but their magical title run ended with a state runner-up finish after they were defeated 35-14. In round 2 of the playoffs, Boesen had a huge game against Mira Costa to reverse the game result from earlier in the year—contributing 185 receiving yards and a TD. Another 31 receiving yards against Atascadero had Boesen sitting at 814 receiving yards and 5 TDs heading into the title game. Defensively, Boesen had 111 tackles and 16 sacks prior to the title clash as well. When the state championship game stats are logged, I'll be sure to give everyone an updated total.

Justin Taimatuia, DT, Fort Scott Community College (KS)

Season over - Final stats (if the FS Greyhounds site is correct): at least 30 tackles (8.5 for loss), 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and a pass breakup on the year—if I find out any different, I'll let you know.

Mercy Maston, CB Bakersfield Community College (CA)

Bakersfield has breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs and advanced to the CCCAA championship game this coming weekend against City College of San Francisco. The 10-2 Renegades dispatched Ventura College 2 weeks ago and Mt. SAC on November 24th to reach the title game. Game stats have not yet been logged for the Mt. SAC win, but prior to that win, Maston had 54 tackles, 2 INTs (including a 79-yard pick six), 2 tackles-for-loss, 6 PBUs, a forced fumble and a kick block.

Andrew Tercek, OL, East Central High School (San Antonio, TX)

East Central made it to round two of the state playoffs, but fell to Madison 24-0 on the 23rd. Tercek's squad finished at 8-4 on the year.

Eli McCullough, OT, Rocky Mountain High School (Meridian, ID)

Season over - The Grizzlies finished 6-4 and suffered a first-round playoff loss to Couer d'Alene.

Tyler Rausa, PK, Riverside City College (Riverside, CA)

Riverside won the Golden State Bowl against LA Harbor and finished their season 9-2. Rausa was 15-20 on field goals on the year with a long of 48 and 52-of-53 on PATs.

Nick Terry, DT, Pleasant Grove High School (Elk Grove, CA)

One of the Broncos newest commits, DT Nick Terry, had a fine year for Pleasant Grove...who made it to round two of the CIF playoffs before losing to Burbank. On the year, Terry had 55 tackles, 1 sack and a PBU. PGHS finished with a 7-5 record

Kamalei Correa, DT, St. Louis High School (Honolulu, HI)

Correa's team has a bit of a disappointing season and finished with a record of 5-5. Oddly enough, I can't find a single stat sheet for Correa, even though his football season ended on October 19th. In lieu of that, take another look at Correa's junior highlight tape...I imagine his senior year was more of the same.

That's it for this week...but hopefully we'll be adding to our list of recruits as the season wears on. If you have any stats, info, or otherwise to report, I would greatly appreciate it. Just send HERE.
