Wake up, Bronco Nation: Boise State football links and things, 11-2-12

Troy Babbitt-US PRESSWIRE

Secondary depth could be an issue again this year

Boise State will be without S Lee Hightower (indefinite suspension) and CB Bryan Douglas (season ending ACL injury) for tomorrow night's game against San Diego State. Darian Thompson will start for Hightower as he did last week. Jerrell Gavins and Jamar Taylor will be the starting corner backs with Deon'tae Florence being the third CB. Jeremy Ioane is still good to go which makes me very happy. It's not as bad as last year, but another injury would be very bad.

Why can't we have an interim college playoff this year?

That's the question by SB Nation's Bill Connelly and even though we know the answer will be "no" without actually answering the "why" part of the question, it still should be asked. Of course the team that would not be in favor of a playoff this year would be an undefeated Alabama team. Now if they lose to LSU on Friday, something tells me they would be all for that four team playoff beginning this year.

Nate Potter waits patiently for his shot to play (HT: Ethan Poulsen)

The Arizona Cardinals website has a nice write up on Nate Potter, who was drafted last year by the Arizona Cardinals in 7th round, and fellow rookie Senio Kelemete on their preparation this year even though they have barely played. Potter has made it on to the field for one snap on a QB sneak, but that's it.

Idaho State's Derek Graves has been suspended indefinitely

Derek Graves was the player that was pushed down by coach Mike Kramer. The suspension was due to a violation of team rules and more specifically being repeatedly late for practice. I bet that's code for doing too many interviews with Outside the Lines.
