Most of Boise State's 2013 verbal commits were in action this weekend...here's how they fared.
Ryan Finley, QB, Paradise Valley High School (Phoenix, AZ)
Finley finished his regular season on Friday night on the same manner in which he started in—dominating. Finley passed for 375 yards and 4 TDs in a 49-20 win over Fountain Hills to help the Trojans finish their season 7-3 and secure a playoff bid. Finley's regular season stats were impressive—3,165 yards passing, 33 TDs and 8 INTs and 234 yards rushing and 3 TDs. Paradise Valley will open the playoffs against Liberty...a team they lost to in September. Good luck, Ryan!
Joe Martarano, MLB, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)
Fruitland advanced to the state quarterfinals with a dominating 71-12 win over my high school alma mater—Kellogg, in the Kibbie Dome yesterday. Kellogg, who sported a 1-7 record going into the game, somehow landed in a state play-in game. My question being: how? The Grizzlies will play Priest River this coming weekend.
Alec Dhaenens, TE, Fruitland High School (Fruitland, ID)
DNP (ACL)
Jack Austin, WR, Chino Hills High School (Chino Hills, CA)
Chino Hills drubbed Damien 56-14 on Friday evening and now sit at 6-2-1 on the year with one regular season game left to play. I can't seem to find Austin's stats for the game, but as of last week he had 799 yards and 5 TDs on the year. The team will wrap up their regular season against South Hills this weekend.
Aaron Baltazar, RB, Eastlake High School (Chula Vista, CA)
Eastlake dropped their game to Olympian on Friday night 35-24 and moved to 6-3 with one game left to play in their regular season. Once again, stats from the game have not been made available. Through week 9, Baltazar had 990 yards and 12 TDs on the year. Defensively, Baltazar had 40 tackles, 1 sack, 10 PBUs, 2 forced fumbles and 2 recoveries. Eastlake will wrap up their regular season next weekend against Otay Ranch.
Tanner Vallejo, LB, Nevada Union High School (Grass Valley, CA)
Nevada Union slipped to 5-4 on the year on Friday night after losing a tough 45-35 decision to Del Oro. Vallejo did his part, however, registering 12 total tackles and scoring a rushing TD in the contest. With one game left to play in his regular season, Vallejo has 105 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, 2 PBUs, 2 fumble recoveries and 3 forced fumbles. Offensively, Vallejo has rushed for 370 yards and 7 TDs. He'll wrap up his year this Friday against Granite Bay.
Durrant Miles, LB/DE, Bingham High School (South Jordan, UT)
Miles' Bingham squad wrapped up their regular season last weekend and now will face Fremont on November 2nd to open the playoffs. Miles' stats haven't been logged for a few weeks, so I'll make sure to get his full season stats to you when the season is in the books.
Mat Boesen, LB/TE, West High School (Torrance, CA)
Boesen and his West squad got back in the win column on Friday night after three straight losses and now sit at 6-3 on the year with one game left on their regular season schedule. Boesen had 3 receptions for 48 yards in Friday's 56-6 victory over Peninsula and added 6 tackles to his total as well. On the year, Boesen has 74 tackles (16 for loss), 9 sacks, a pass break-up as well as 37 receptions for 559 yards and 3 TDs. West will wrap up their regular season this Friday against Leuzinger.
Justin Taimatuia, DT, Fort Scott Community College (KS)
The Greyhounds ended their season last week by falling to Arkansas Baptist 37-14. The Fort Scott website is a mess and links to a page that doesn't even have proper scores...but as far as I can tell, Taimatuia has at least 30 tackles (8.5 for loss), 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and a pass breakup on the year.
Mercy Maston, CB Bakersfield Community College (CA)
Bakersfield beat Cerritos College on Saturday and moved to 6-2 on the year. Maston had 4 tackles and forced a fumble in the win. On the year, Maston has 38 tackles, 2 INTs (including a 79-yard pick six), 2 tackles-for-loss, 6 PBUs, a forced fumble and a kick block.
Andrew Tercek, OL, East Central High School (San Antonio, TX)
East Central were defeated by Steele on Friday 28-0 and moved to 5-3 on the year with two games left to play. East Central will play South San Antonio on Friday.
Eli McCullough, OT, Rocky Mountain High School (Meridian, ID)
Rocky Mountain lost their third straight game and missed out on the SIC title by losing to Borah on Friday night. Rocky Mountain still secured a playoff bid, however, and will play Couer d'Alene this coming weekend (in CDA).
That's it for this week...but hopefully we'll be adding to our list of recruits as the season wears on. If you have any stats, info, or otherwise to report, I would greatly appreciate it. Just send HERE.
