As you may have gathered, college football season has begun and with it, the high school football season. This means that Boise State's growing list of 2012 recruits have started their senior campaigns. Let's see how they're faring so far, shall we?
Jack Fields, RB, Americas High (El Paso, TX)
A week ago, Fields rushed for 180 yards and 2 TDs in a season-opening win over Andress, but had just one carry for 15 yards in Thursday night's 62-14 win over Oñate. Whether Fields was injured in the contest or was just deemed unnecessary in the blowout is unclear at this time. Needless to say, he has 195 yards and 2 scores on the year and his Americas team is 2-0. Highlights from the opener can be found below (he's #21):
Shane Rhodes, WR, Klein Collins High School (TX)
Rhodes had a 77-yard punt return in the season opening win over Fort Bend Travis in week one and his Klein Collins squad defeated Cypress Lakes last night to improve to 2-0 on the season. Full stats not currently available, but you can watch Rhodes' unbelievable return below:
Devan Demas, RB, Cypress Creek (TX)
Demas had 25 carries for 124 yards, and 2 TDs—including the game-winner—in yesterday's season-opening win over Klein Oaks. Demas scored on runs of 10 yards and 50 yards.
Donte Deayon, CB, Summit High School (CA)
Deayon's Summit squad opened their season with a loss to Etiwanda, but Deayon had 116 yards rushing in the game and also caught a late TD pass. No defensive statistics were listed for Deayon in the game.
Chaz Anderson, CB, Loyola High School (CA)
Loyola opened the season on Friday with a win over Mira Costa. Anderson had 3 tackles on the night.
Marcus Rios, CB, Cosumnes Oaks High School (CA)
Cosumnes Oaks is off to a 2-0 start after defeating both Yuba City and Kimball. Stats aren't complete, but I do know that Rios logged 3 tackles in the opener at Yuba City.
Christopher Santini, N, Leland High School (CA)
Santini got his Leland squad off to a great start to their season on Friday night, when they beat Highlands 52-7. Santini had 8 tackles in the game, including 2 sacks, and also carried the ball 6 times for 54 yards, made 2 catches for 58 yards, and returned 2 kicks for 89 yards. Santini also scored 2 TDs in the win. Impressive start.
Chanceller James, S, Steele Canyon (CA)
James had 2 TD receptions in Friday's season-opener against Cathedral Catholic. Overall, James pulled in 4 passes for 52 yards in the win.
Nick Patti, QB, Dr. Phillips High School (FL)
Dr. Phillips opened their season on Friday with a win over Apopka. Patti had 3 TD passes in the game and also scored on an 80-yard run and a 1-yard keeper in the 32-21 win. Overall, Patti had 237 yards passing and 121 yards rushing in the win. Highlights from the win can be seen HERE (touchdown scamper at the 1:10 mark)
Andrew Pint, LB, Valor Christian (CO)
Pint's Valor Christian squad is 2-0 on the year and Pint looks to be playing a big part. He logged 10 tackles in the opener against Grandview, but no stats were recorded (yet) from their win over Regis Jesuit on Friday. Both wins so far this season have been against teams playing in a higher division.
Ben Weaver, LB, Klein High School (TX)
No stats have been submitted for Weaver or his 2-0 Bearkat squad...but Weaver is mentioned several times in this write-up about the opener win over Aldine.
That's it for this week...if you have any stats, info, or otherwise to report, I would greatly appreciate it. Just send HERE.
