OBNUG Pick 'Em: Week Four Results and Week Five Games

Pick Em
Pick Em

Boise State ended up going off at a 28.5 point favorite against Tulsa last week, and it looked like they had it in the bag. Then Boise State took their foot off the gas and coasted to only a 20 point win. This does not make pick 'em enthusiasts like me and degenerate gamblers (like people other than me) very happy.

This week, Boise State has opened up as a 27.5 point favorite over Nevada, and you have to imagine that the defense will play a tad bit more inspired in the second half this week against the Pack. After seeing numerous players being helped off the field last week against Tulsa, I can't say I disagree with pulling Kellen in the middle of the third quarter. I just hope that the 2's can keep the momentum going this week if they're called upon.

Let's get onto this week's picks.

Now onto this week's picks ...

Stone cold lock of the century of the week

Oregon handled Arizona pretty easily last week to bring my record in the stone-cold-lock-of-the-century-bet-your-mortgage lock of the week to a tidy 2-2. If I were really betting mortgages, I'd be even. Let's keep this going.

(13) Clemson (+7) OVER (11) Virginia Tech

Clemson has had two impressive wins back-to-back over Auburn and Florida State. Virginia Tech has played a schedule consisting of an FCS team, a Sun Belt team, and two Conference USA teams and almost lost to East Carolina. I'm trying to figure out how Clemson isn't ranked ahead of Virginia Tech and why Virginia Tech is giving 7 points right now. I know it's in Blacksburg, but I think Clemson can outright win this game.

Bonus game

Not all games can fit into Yahoo's weekly Pick 'Em board, especially not the WAC ones that no one cares about. Well, we care about them. This week's bonus game:

Virginia (-17) OVER Idaho

Idaho is slowly slipping into obscurity, but we don't like to let them get off that easy. After last week's 48-24 drubbing at the hands of Fresno State, Idaho is making a cross country trip to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. Virginia is only 2-2 on the year, but if they could beat William and Mary by 40-3, then I think they can do the same to the Vandals.

Your turn

Feel free to share your picks in the comments and/or discuss this week's slate of games. Since I'm not tallying these manually anymore, it's wide open. Who you got? Let's hear it.
