Tharp was basically a 3-year backup and I don’t know that Southwick has ever solidified himself as the solid #2. We’ll see.

I used to not like caps going backwards...

Who’s that? Haha, just messin. Lomax is not comparable to Patti. Lomax came in as a cocky individual. Just cause he picked BSU over Oregon, he thought no matter what happened he was going to get the job. Patti is way different. Everything I’ve read on Patti has to do with proving everyone wrong instead of right. Patti has that chip, the BSU mentality that Lomax never had. He’s here early. That alone proves that he’s all Football. Shoot, I wouldn’t be surprised if Coach Pete told him if he came early studied and practiced hard, there is a BIG chance he could get the job. He has the ability to be a Kellen with wheels. Watch the tape, read the articles. This kid is special. In my opinion. And Nick Patti, if your reading this. Please practice the playbook extra hard. Please.

It may be more similar to BYU's Jake Heaps
Hammer hits the nail on the head with that comment. BYU faithful ordained Jake Heaps their football Jimmer. He didn’t meet expectations as the true starter his sophmore year and it went downhill fast. Lets give him time to develop and let the chips fall how they may, just like we’ve done with every other Bronco QB in BSU history.

But this is what I believe. How about we put a wager on it? If he gets us a National Title, you(BSUbluNorange) and Mr. Hammer each has to buy me a regular season ticket. If he doesn’t, I buy each of you a home ticket, if you have season tickets, I’ll each buy you an away regular season ticket? I’ll always be a OBNUG.COM regular. So I ain’t going anywhere.

I also think he is good enough to win an NC.
And I will never ever bet against BSU getting into a National Championship. Conflict of interest. So that’s a no for me. I think he will be our starter, I just don’t think it’ll be next year. I think he redshirts and improves for a year while Southwick leads the team. Let us remember, Kellen redshirted behind Taylor Tharp, even though the coaches knew Moore was obviously better. So I don’t think we should anoint him the next big thing yet.
That said, Patti is much more mentally tough than Heaps. I almost feel bad making the comparison.

I also believe he shouldn’t be thrown into the fire. That’s why I ask him to Study, Study, Study. I know Coach Pete won’t do that either. I do believe thou he has the ability to be a true freshmen starter. If he hadn’t came in early, then yes I would be against him starting. But since he has those extra 4 to 5 months to study, I’m for it. But again. If he does become the starter this coming up year, 90% chance he’s ready. There is still that 10% thou to.

Plus I already get free student tickets… I think the precedent of kellen sitting behind tharp will hold true here. Better to rs patti since we’ll already have one freshman qb on the roster (jimmy will be rs frosh). Then we have soph grant hedrick. Why throw a third youngin into the mix? Whats the point having three scholly qbs that close to each other? Keep in mind, the coaches promised jimmy they wouldn’t sign another qb in the 2011 class and they didn’t. I think they hold to the principle of that and he may get the shot over southwick, who knows.

I haven’t seen a anything from Jimmy. Hopefully he’s Boise’s best kept secret.
I believe Patti is the one. Would it be better for him to red-shirt? Yes. Who know’s, Patti may be the worst of the bunch. I just feel, from what i’ve seen and read about him, he is the best for Boise now. Seeing how much Pease struggled with the play calling. You can keep the Offense the same, so they don’t have the problem of changing a thing, and it still have the potential to be more explosive the way Patti can run and throw on the run. Remember, he is a pocket passer with the ability to run like a running back. A Running Back, not a Quarterback that can scramble.

Anybody know why Nick isn't listed at QB on the official Semper Fi roster?
Also saw something on Scout that said he wasn’t playing QB, but they may have just been asking what I just asked.

This kid is going to be boiling over with angst
He’s the only one to hit all the targets in the history of the Elite Eight, he’s a TRUE dual threat QB, he has eye-popping numbers, and he can’t even get a QB slot in the Simper Fi game?
At this rate, I’d sit him in front of MSU tape and tell him don’t come knock on my door until you can decode their defense within 3 seconds of seeing a picture of a random alignment up there. Then I’d have him spend extra private time with my Nickelbacks and design a defensive play where I let Nick get on the field for defense so he can tell the world how pissed he is via a sack dance.
I’m just kidding lol. I’m gonna let the hype pass me by. This guy is going to have to work for everything he gets and I don’t want to contribute in any way to a pressured atmosphere where he is ordained the Messiah of the program…that’s not fair to him.
