The Broncos and Lobos kick things off on Saturday afternoon (4:00 p.m. MT, The Mtn) in a game that was pretty much over when the schedule came out. There are more important things at stake on Saturday, like my emotions when the Bronco seniors are announced. Will there be tears? Will there be embarrassing public displays a la the line outside a Twilight movie? I will not be responsible for my actions.

As part of OBNUG's week-long effort to say good-bye to the Bronco seniors, I have a special treat for them after the jump. Don't worry, it's not a scrapbook of Photoshopped memories.

Visit the BroncoSports website for the full pdf of the depth chart. You can also find a detailed roster and, if you're really wanting to kill an hour, the team's weekly notes.

Disclaimer: Depth charts mean as much as you want them to mean. Keep in mind that things change over the course of a game week and that game situations, injuries, and performance will render some of this depth chart moot. Still, it's fun to speculate ... with hyperbole! Antwon Murray is hitting his stride!

Happy Senior Day!

The Broncos will be saying good-bye to 21 seniors on Saturday. Twenty-one! Oh how I long for the days of the four-person senior class. #OccupyGraduation

Instead of the usual depth chart breakdown, I thought it would be appropriate to honor each of the Bronco seniors with his very own haiku. Note: None of them asked me to do this, nor did I ask anyone if this was a good idea. That's journalism for you, folks.

Chase Baker

So underrated

Would make a good paper weight

For a giant guy

Thomas Byrd

Talented old vet

Leader of offensive line

Will need new knee parts

Tyrone Crawford

Meteoric rise

Canada has those, correct?

Two more seasons please

Kyle Efaw

Fiesta hero

Credits everyone but him

Here's to everyone!

Brad Elkin

Best punter around.

Not sure why he'd wait four years

to tell anyone

Cedric Febis

Rock solid safety.

Too bad the NCAA

finds Dutch people gross

Chuck Hayes

Played defensive line.

Played offensive line better.

Should try Conga line

Byron Hout

Hard-nosed footballer

plays like his hair is on fire

which it just might be.

George Iloka

Four super seasons

Of stellar safety play

And retro haircuts

George-iloka_medium Kid_medium

Doug Martin

The Muscle Hamster

always in Joe Tessitore's

fantasy lineup.

Gilmore-tess-fantasy_medium

Shea McClellin

Nicknamed Superman

Not for crush on Teri Hatcher

at least I don't think

Lois-clark-adventures-superman_medium

Kellen Moore

The dork assassin:

Best college QB ever.

I'll miss headline puns

Antwon Murray

Cornerback mentor

helps next generation guys.

Teach double-moves please

Nate Potter

Will play on Sundays.

NFL loves big tackles

(and Nickelback songs)

Jarrell Root

Super sub D-end

inspired my New Year's goal:

growing an afro.

Tyler Shoemaker

Not a bad Pettis.

All he does is catch touchdowns -

and get arm tattoos.

Travis Stanaway

Spent career behind

two Bronco safety legends.

Needed more blackmail.

Aaron Tevis

Great player, only

realized yesterday that

it's pronounced TEV-iss.

Hunter White

Special teams maven

makes a play every week

needs PTO time.

Matt Wilson

Not sure who this is.

Maybe Luke Wilson's brother?

Maybe Woodrow's bro?

Billy Winn

Has crazy haircuts

Has an NFL future

I want to be him

Internal players of the week

Boise State's internal players of the week for Wyoming were tight end Kyle Efaw (offense), safety Travis Stanaway (defense), defensive tackle Mike Atkinson (lineman), and cornerback Josh Borgman (Hammer). There was no special teams player of the week because Boise State was not thrilled with the kicking game.

Miscellaneous

  • Seeing Mike Atkinson's name as Boise State's lineman of the week and noticing that he's gone all season without being suspended makes me feel a little better about the future of the Bronco D-line. Upgrade me from "clinically depressed" to "beside myself."
  • George Iloka rocked it at cornerback last week, and with the New Mexico football circus coming to town, he may just break that 11-game interception-less streak.
  • Byron Hout broke a season-long stretch of co-starters at middle linebacker by finally securing the sole starting spot in the middle over Tommy Smith. Better late than never, I guess.
  • Hunter White has reclaimed the nickel spot over Jonathan Brown for this week, maybe because he's a senior but also maybe because he's playing pretty well as of late.
