That....is literally the ONLY positive scenario.
Go Golden Eagles.

Not happening.
We are going to the Poinsettia and playing a middling Louisiana Tech team. I got my hopes up last year… I’m not getting them up again.

I'm afraid I agree
I’m pulled between going to the game to support the team or banning the game on principal that we aren’t a bunch of lapdogs that will just buy tickets to any bowl game they decide to send us to.

Not a chance
I live in Phx and went to ASU so I am a fan of both teams. ASU is absolutely puking all over themselves right now and would not even put up the same kind of fight that Wyoming did. Once you get a lead on ASU right now they just give up and lay down which means that the game will be over in about 5 minutes.

i'd be okay with Vegas against ASU
it’s a PAC-12 team, and one that started out really good… it would be better than playing La Tech

If we do get stuck in Vegas....
….I’d much rather play Washington.

UGA fan here...
I think that you guys are getting robbed. At the very least you deserve a BCS bowl, but if for some reason God smiles upon the Dawgs and we beat LSU, then put you guys in the BCSNC game.
Granted the Dawgs are playing much better now than the beginning of the season, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Boise was the better of the two teams in the dome.
Point blank.
Getting royally screwed, you are.

thanks man.
we agree. this is why the current system sucks… we lose one game by one point and suddenly people that lose 2, 3 or 4 games are getting into the BCS but we can’t?? gimme a break.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34

Hey, beat LSU.
It won’t help us, but it would be fun seeing everyone rank Georgia ahead of us. With the way voters characterize Boise State, you know it will happen.

Plus, then they'd go to the Sugar Bowl.
Since most BSU fans have been rooting just as hard for Georgia this season as they have for BSU, I for one think this would be a nice second-best scenario if BSU has no chance to get into a BCS game itself. (Which it basically doesn’t.) At least then some of our fandom this season would be vindicated.

Thanks Dawg
Joe - we are used to getting royally screwed in a world where you have to be perfect to get anything.
We are all playing better actually. Remember we were missing 4 starters and it was our first game too when we played you guys. Injuries wore us down and our lack of cornerbacks killed us in the toughest game, but we still had it to win and missed the FG.
The fact that the #7 team in the country (BCS, etc) is not going to a BCS bowl is still another indictment of the BCS system.
I have enjoyed watching the Dawgs this year - its amazing what class, teamwork and a world class coach can do. And you never know what might happen when a real QB takes on LSU. they have only faced one this year, and Murray is better than Wilson.

Michigan
still isn’t in the Top 14… the Wolverines are 15th right now, and Wisconsin could jump them. So they could be #16. Who’s to say they will even qualify for an at-large spot?
I have a dream that my team will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their turf but by the content of their talent.
by Jungblut on Nov 27, 2025 2:03 PM PST reply actions
They're done playing...
…so they won’t have a chance to lose another game.
Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Georgia are all directly ahead of them right now. One of those two Big Ten teams will drop below them. If Georgia can’t beat LSU, so will we.

In a perfect world...
…an UGA win over LSU puts Boise in the NCG. They will have beaten the SEC champs (handily) and their only loss was by one point to the defending Rose Bowl champs. Who would have a better resume?

Somehow he puts Houston at #5.
This man makes no sense.
by Confused European on Nov 27, 2025 4:29 PM PST up reply actions
Makes no sense ....
unless he figures it is punishing for Boise State to be ranked below Houston. Look at Houston’s schedules, its awful.
He has a strange agenda ranging from his total random AP voting to hiring a PR firm to lynch Leach a week before his son tells his exaggerated story (aka known as the little baby did not like his playing time). He must be a bitter angry man. Not sure where the anger comes from, but it must be real…..maybe hit on a head by a potato as a child?

Maybe its all political, money to be raised in Houston
James as a Senator…scary!!!!
In an interview with WFAA-TV in Dallas, James revealed that he is interested in getting involved in politics as a member of the Republican Party. James is a self-described “conservative” and states that government intervention in business and health care are his main concerns. He has founded a political group called Texans for a Better America.James has said that he would not rule out running for the United States Senate seat currently held by Kay Bailey Hutchison in 2012.

Actually Murph, I think it has to go like this....
1. Southern Miss has to beat Houston…and knock them back 9 places. Not even entirely sure that mathematically possible. (and TCU has to stay out of the top 16)
2. OK State has to beat Oklahoma (gives OK 3 losses)
3. LSU has to beat Georgia (otherwise SEC gets three in and takes away a slot)
4. Va Tech has to beat Clemson (otherwise ACC could get two in)
5. Iowa St beating K-State is a tremendous boost
6. BSU needs to score 100 against whatever team it is from NM we are playing this week.

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong...
but even if Georgia beats LSU it wouldn’t give the SEC 3 BCS bids. Two is the max right?? So I don’t mind if Georgia beats LSU at all…that would be awesome!!
by Future_Demagogue on Nov 27, 2025 6:09 PM PST up reply actions
Sorry, but that is incorrect.
I thought the same thing, but evidently if the BCS #1 and #2 teams are from the same conference, but not conference champions, they still play for the title and the auto bid for the AQ conference would be awarded to the champion, in this case Georgia. There is such a gap between LSU/Bama and everyone else, that a loss in the SEC championship by LSU wouldn’t knock them out of the title game.
If Georgia wins, the SEC will employ a crazy exemption and land three teams in BCS games.

Gotcha...
GO LSU! Sorry Georgia, I’ve been rootin’ for ya all year. But not in this game! :P

I think if in top 4 both Alabama and LSU in
So….what if,
- LSU wins
- Houston loses in a close game (which puts them in the same place as Boise and puts Southern Miss in the same place as TCU) .
- Let’s say Houston lands at 14.
- TCU and Southern Miss stay below 16.
- Michigan moves up to 15 (need Baylor win over Harsins and Texas), moves Michigan ahead of Michigan State and Georgia but below Baylor
- OK wins
- Helps if Georgia loses in OT
so:
Stanford, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Big Least, Virginia Tech, OK State and Oklahoma and let’s say Wisconsin
Leaves one spot:
Boise State would be taken over Houston ….nobody else is eligible!!!
Hey think of the last play of first half against Wyoming!!!
by IUTex on Nov 27, 2025 6:46 PM PST up reply actions
And I'm not so sure it's a long shot...
National Championship- LSU vs Bama
Sugar-Stanford vs ?
Fiesta- Oklahoma St. vs ?
Orange-Va Tech vs (Big East whoever)
Rose- Oregon vs Michigan St.
You can then plug in #6 Houston (if they don’t lose) and after that it’s #7 Boise, #10 Oklahoma (who will have lose number 3 after the OSU game), #11 Kansas State, #15 Wisconsin, #16 Michigan (who actually fell after beating Ohio State) and if their rank goes up TCU who is currently at #18 (UNLV should drop them in the computers even more).
I’m hopeful that Houston will lose to Southern Miss…but even if they don’t I’m not so sure they wouldn’t be given the other bid. We can hope anyway…so long as it’s not Oklahoma State that we play…I’m pretty sure we’d get torched.

this! if michigan stays out of the top 14 we would be competing against k-state or a 3 loss OU.
i like our chances against either of them for an at-large spot.
by 84bsufan on Nov 27, 2025 9:11 PM PST up reply actions
I think we need to be rooting for the following:
LSU beating Georgia in a close one…
Clemson beating VT in the ACC finale - (which, may help Clemson leap frog Michigan and moves us closer to the top of the polls)
Baylor beating #22 Texas - (which, may help Baylor jump in front of Michigan, as well)
Wisconsin beat MSU in a very, very close one (like the first match-up). If that happens, we may see MSU drop below Wisconsin, but stay in front of Michigan since MSU beat Michigan during the regular season and beat Wisconsin in the regular season…only to lose a close one in the Big Ten Championship
We have to hope for Southern Miss to upset Houston for obvious reasons, but let’s not forget this team in ranked #24 right now, and a win over #6 Houston might just catapult them up in the rankings (not sure past Michigan…probably not)…but, anyway, we know why we are rooting for Southern Miss.
And, I feel strange about this one, but let’s hope K-State handles business against Iowa St. this weekend - I know we may be up against them in a BCS bowl invitation is up for grabs - but, if they lose to Iowa State, they will sink like a stone, and that will move MIchigan up. I’d rather take our chances in a BCS bowl inviting us over K-State than having the decision between us and Michigan.
by KyleWilson01 on Nov 27, 2025 9:21 PM PST up reply actions
if clemson beats vt they both could get invites... that would not be good. we want vt to win
even if houston wins, there will be 1 at large we would be competing for… if michigan stays under 14 i really like our chances… baylor actually has a good chance to pass michigan with a win…. southern miss isnt even ranked in the computers so them beating houston would be glorious as it would open up a 2nd at large spot (as long as tcu doesnt crack 16). unfortunately this is a lot of stuff to hope for and if the entire regular season has taught me anything year in and year out it is that we would be lucky to have 1/2 this stuff happen.

Geez....
If we get banned to the Poinsettia Bowl, could we at the very least play Nevada and beat up on them again? Louisiana Tech? Really?

Nope, its over......
I was irrational and fought the good fight but we are either going to Vegas or San Diego…..morale victory ; look what the computers think of Oregon, ViTech and any team from the B1G12.

But next weekend, lets let our Broncos know whats up. The GREATEST senior class of all time, we have gone from outside scappy fighter to legitiment title contender. Here’s to the next step, what will the next class hold…..
Chris Petersen is in the dictionary next to the word AWESOME.
