Yup, kinda sucks
Then again this move to the Big East could still work if BYU gets added for football only. Essentially a collection of winning Non-AQs in one conference. I still like it better than the conference merger nightmare. Too many mouths for Boise to feed if they get a BCS Bid.

Brett McMurphy has been tweeting that Boise State and Air Force are campaigning for BYU
as a 12th Big East team.
I guess we’ll see…

We need a third option
Right now we are damned if we do, damned if we don’t.
BSU don't need smoke and mirrors to get the job done, they got orange pants.

Apparently The Big 12
said it wanted to expand to 16 teams by 2013 (two years from now). I’m still surpirsed at the lack of coverage of that fact. It’s hard to not picture Boise State as one of those teams. We really need Missouri to make things official and let the Big 12 start things in to action.

everything I've read about the Big 12
has said that they want to stay at 10 teams. more money for each school that way and an easier path to the MNC

Thats kinda my point
I’m suprised at the lack of coverage. Earlier I posted a Fan Shot with a link to an article. The last paragraph in the article said the Big 12 wanted to try and keep Mizzou one more year, then expand to 16 teams after that. It was very odd that it was the last paragraph and that no more attention was being paid to it. I went to go look at that article again to repost it here for you, but guess what….they took out that last paragraph. I’m almost convinced now that the Big 12 will expand to 16 teams. Think about it. The PAC 12, Big 10, SEC all have 12+ teams. 12 teams allows you to have a conference champ game, which the Big 12 is used to. Now, the only way the Big 12 can expand is by stealing teams from other conferences. Do you think the Big 12 wants that to be public knowledge right now? I don’t. They’ll keep it to themselves until they are ready to act, which I believe will be very soon. At 10 teams (with the departure of Mizzou and addition of WVU) that means 6 more teams will need to be invited. Personally, I don’t care if we go to the PAC 12 or Big 12. But if the PAC 12 is where some of you want to be, I’d rather wait around in the Big 12 for that invite.

None of it matters. Our end destination is the PAC-12, everywhere else is a waiting spot
I’d rather wait in the BE and collect 12-15M per year to upgrade my facilities, stadium, afford the new 2K schollys, and expand the education than wait in the MWC/USA monster that will split less money twice as many ways and may or may not include the tiered system the BE employs (which gives a bigger cut to conference champions and BCS participants).
If anyone can argue against that I’d like to see what you have to say. This, to me, is a no brainer.

this is exactly what I’m saying. The BE is guaranteed to be AQ thru 2013 or 2014, I believe. There’s no way the BCS will kick out one of its founding members… they’ll change/bend rules and make it more exclusive before they allow the “have-nots” more access.
If this is our foot in the door, we need to accept it. Yesterday. Accumulate the money, recruit better prospects with the now (actually) realistic shot at a National Championship, build better facilities and ride it out until we can go Pac-12 or Big 12
