Wake up, Bronco Nation: Boise State football links and things, 10-12-11

SB Nation's resident stat geek, Bill Connelly, is very impressed with Boise State's defense

And he's not afraid to call other people out for moving the proverbial bar every time Boise State accomplishes something else. He even referred to Boise State's defense as "truly elite".

Clay Travis makes a good case for why the Big East won't lose their AQ bid

Basically it boils down to two parts. First there is no criteria for a conference to lose their bid. Therefore secondly, if the other conferences did try to strip the Big East of their bid, the Big East would have lots of ammo for a lawsuit and could then spill the beans on all the discussions between the conferences when the BCS was formed. Sounds like fun. Of course, Stewart Mandel disagrees and my head feels like it's about to explode.

Bodog has Boise State at 10-1 odds to win the National Championship

Boise State is ahead of Stanford, Clemson and Oklahoma State which seems kind of silly to me. Especially Oklahoma State who has a chance to beat Oklahoma and somewhat control their own destiny.

The West Side Drive In is featured in Andy Staples' latest rankings

And Boise State is at 6. Looks like most pollsters are going to have Boise State around 6 until some teams start losing. That is unless you're Scott Wolf. Stick to your guns, buddy!

Prepare the rumor mill!

Mike Stoops was fired at Arizona the other day and the AD at Arizona, Greg Byrne, is supposedly friends with Chris Petersen from his days at Oregon. I'm more inclined to agree that it's a pipe dream that Arizona would land Coach Pete and others feel the same way. But prepare yourself for the inevitable onslaught of columns about it.

DirecTV customers may not get to watch KTVB anymore

Looks like KTVB is pulling a power play and comparing themselves to ESPN, TBS and Fox News when it comes to how much DirecTV pays to carry those channels. Is there anyway DirecTV could pull KTVB but just keep all the NBC programming? I think that would be a happy medium for us all.
