Class of 2011 Recruit Roundup

The senior seasons of next year's Broncos are more than halfway through so each weekend through the end of the high school season until the end of the high school season, I'll be checking in on some of the Broncos' 2011 recruits to see how they're faring. After the jump, we'll drop in on a few of the Bronco verbals (non-binding till February, yadda-yadda).

Frisco Liberty (TX) RB commit Jay Ajayi finally had his "off" game. After posting eye-popping stats in previous weeks Ajayi had a game that was merely "awesome" and not "holy crap incredible". Ajayi rushed for 103 yards on just 12 carries (a measly 8.6 yards per) in Friday's victory over Carrollton Turner. Ajayi also had another 2 TDs in the win for the undefeated Redhawks and now has 1,553 yards and 28 TDs in 8 contests. He isn't too thrilled about Boise State's initial BCS ranking either. Smart kid.

"You're kidding me, right?" Ajayi told Sporting News. "That is just crazy. I guess you just keep winning. That's all you can do at this point. Coach Pete and the other coaches know what it takes to get that success that they are having. It will happen."

Rocklin High School (CA) QB commit Jimmy Laughrea went 10 of 14 for 208 yards in Rocklin's Friday night victory over Woodcreek. Laughrea had no TD passes or INTs in the win, but did improve his passing stats to 1,815 yards on the year. Laughrea has thrown for at least 200 yards in all but one contest this year.

Though his stats are routinely updated a week late, I can tell you that Cosumnes Oaks (CA) D-line commit Robert Ash had 5 tackles and 1 sack against Vista Del Lago last Friday, bringing his season total (as of last week) to 58 tackles, 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a blocked field goal.

On Friday night, Safety commit Taylor Loffler of Kelowna (BC) helped rally his squad past rival Mt. Boucherie. The Owls trailed 10-7 at one point in the game, but Loffler directly contributed to putting the final 15 points of the contest on the board with an 11-yard TD run and 2 late TD passes. Loffler's performance was all the more inspiring considering that he was nursing a sore back and had not even practiced with the team all week.

CB commit Eric Agbaroji of Midlothian High School (TX) had a tackle and forced a fumble in Friday night's win over Grand Prairie. Agbaroji has 23 tackles on the season as well as an INT, numerous PBUs and 2 blocked field goals.

Local WR commit Dallas Burroughs hauled in 6 passes for 164 yards and 2 TDs in Friday night's win over Vallivue. Burroughs' Rocky Mountain squad clinched a division title with the victory.

Another recent local commit (Nickel) Corey Bell of Capital  was in action on Friday for the undefeated Eagles and scored on a 41-yard interception return and rushed for 85 yards on 14 carries.
