Boise State's season is underway and that means that the senior seasons of next year's Broncos are also in full swing. Each weekend from now until the end of the high school season, I'll be checking in on some of the Broncos' 2011 recruits to see how they're faring. After the jump, we'll drop in on a few of the Bronco verbals (non-binding till February, yadda-yadda).
Well, Frisco Liberty running back Jay Ajayi did it again. Ajayi rushed for 297 yards and 5 TDs in Liberty's win over Centennial on Frid ay night, bringing his season total to 1296 yards on the ground and 23 TDs. It is definitely worth mentioning that Ajayi has accomplished these amazing numbers by only playing in the first half of 4 out of the 6 games for the undefeated Redhawks. Unfortunately, Ajayi left Friday's game early in the 3rd quarter with an apparent ankle injury and returned to the sidelines on crutches...so we may or may not see his impressive streak continue. Ajayi is averaging 12.1 yards/carry on the year.
Rocklin High School (CA) QB commit Jimmy Laughrea Laughrea threw for 235 yards and a TD in Friday night's win over rival Del Oro. Through 6 games, Laughrea has amassed 1,379 yards and 10 TDs through the air and another 213 yards and 5 TDs on the ground.
Though his stats are routinely updated a week late, I can tell you that Cosumnes Oaks (CA) D-line commit Robert Ash had 4 tackles and 2 sacks against Galt last Friday, bringing his season total (as of last week) to 40 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a blocked field goal.
Rocky Mountain (ID) got back in the win column on Friday evening by downing Centennial 16-13. WR commit Dallas Burroughs caught 6 passes for 56 yards in the win. Burroughs has 38 receptions on the year for 596 yards.
Safety commit Taylor Loffler was awesome again on Friday night for the 5-1 Kelowna Owls. Loffler passed for 199 yards, rushed for 98, and had a fumble recovery TD.
Newest DB commit Corey Bell (Capital High School) rushed for 172 yards and a TD on 18 carries in the Eagles' win over Borah
