The most objective article on cheap shots I've read.
And its from Eugene, OR.
Go figure.

Good find Mikrino. I was reading another article in the Register Guard this morning that was not so objective. Make sure to click the accompanying photo tab to see what a truly poor piece of journalism this is. I usually like the stuff from Mosely, but apparently he has been haning out with Brian Murphy too long.
The article you linked is more of what I usually see from the RG. I especially like that he pointed out that T.J. Ward led with his head on the hit on Robinson.
I can’t wait until next Friday so all this late hit talk can stop and we can spend a year talking about new excuses. If the Broncos win, I predict within hours there will be baseless complaints about the blue field/blue jerseys, piped in crowd noise, etc.

I read that article too.
He acts as if it’s Broncos players spurring on the trash talk. I lost my interest at that point.

objectivity rec
Thanks for sharing, Mikrino. I’ve found it to be very hit or miss with Oregon journalists and the cheapshot debate. Some guys get it and others don’t. I’m always curious what this conversation would be like, too, if the shoe were on the other foot.

When a journalist inserts a YouTube clip into his column...

Wait ...
…excluded from being journalists or from not being allowed YouTube clips?

my opinion
There wouldn’t be much conversation. To me, late hits are part of the game. An unfortunate part at times, like play clocks, or The University of Idaho, but still part of the game nonetheless.
There is a contingent, however minute, that believe the Masoli late hit affected the outcome. I can’t disagree with that, but also, that’s the game. Live by the sword…

First off, rec'd for that Idaho line
Second off, I sure hope the Oregon players aren’t seriously thinking about retribution. That’s really the only thing that concerns me is if all this offseason talking leads to someone trying to “even the score.”

I completely agree with that concern. While every fan enjoys a good physical game of football, nobody should be trying to injure someone else.

Retribution
Also, part of the game. Comes with the territory, so to speak.
And the possibility is there. If Duck fans were Duck players, Kellen would probably get his head taken off on the first offensive snap.
Then a beaming light would crest from the the top of his shoulders, Temporarily blinding the players and those in attendance. Leaving those tracers you get when you stare at the Sun for more than a second or two, making it all blurry. Except Titus Young would remember running this play, since Coach Pete gameplanned for such an asassination attempt. Titus would propel himself to the speed of light plus four yards, and find the ball in the air above the endzone, clutching the ball from the air for the TD. Kellen would then reverse time back to the moment of contact and simply sidestep the tackler. Then he would show Rachel Nichols the video playback of the events on his Kodak Easyshare housed in his eyesockets. It would be broadcast on the Jumbotron simultaneousely, and the Oregon Ducks would scurry off the field in fear for having attempted such a felonious attack. The Kellen would take all spectators to Dairy Queen for Thin Mint Blizzards.
But then again, maybe they have more respect for their opponent than that.
…On second thought, probably not.

rec'd for mention of a Thin Mint Blizzard
And everything else too, but especially for that!

In regards to the Wesley Mallard (Great duck surname? Or GREATEST duck surname?) part of the article, I fully admit, that it was a cheapshot. (Reference video)
I don’t agree with with his judgment on the T.J. Ward hit. When you get an angle that you can see both helmets, you can see that Zac Robinson’s head was reacting from Ward’s shoulder.
With that aside, I generally agree with the article.
