The atomic clock actually says that we have just 79 days until the Ducks hit the blue turf (hard).
So, today we'll continue our countdown by briefly highlighting the Bronco player with the jersey number that corresponds with the number of days remaining till the opener.Sorry there isn't a more clear and concise way to explain that.
And we're off...
#79 Bronson Durrant, OG
Bronson Durrant is used to playing in the shadow of others. He played on a dominant O-line at Eugene, Oregon's Marist High School next to the towering Charles Siddoway—one of last year's most highly prized recruits. Siddoway got the pub, and the offers, while Durrant quietly played through injuries and displayed a work ethic that the Broncos coveted. The Broncos were the lone school to offer the 6'3" 290 lb. Durrant, and they stuck by him despite season ending injuries in two of his last three seasons of prep ball. Durrant, in turn, stuck with the Broncos and verballed in August of 2007. He redshirted during the 2008 campaign, but will try to emerge from the shadows again this Fall to grab a starting spot on the fresh-faced Bronco O-line.
Durrant was a 3-year football letterman at Marist where he helped his team to state titles as a sophomore and senior. His junior and senior years were both cut short due to injury, yet he still gathered second team All-League honors in his final season as a Spartan. Durrant already has good size and should be ready for a position battle with incumbents and newcomers alike in the Fall. Let's hope he's added a healthy dose of calcium to his diet...the regular season doesn't show as much patience for broken bones as the Broncos showed Durrant during recruiting.
