If you watched last night's Holiday Bowl between Oregon and Oklahoma State, you couldn't help but notice Duck QB Jeremiah Masoli, and you couldn't, for the life of you, remember him doing anything even remotely resembling that against Boise State in September.
Oh, Masoli was there alright. He just wasn't nearly as awesome as he was against the Cowboys.
Of course, this is the part of the post where Oregon fans chime in about a cheap shot by Ellis Powers - a first quarter hit that left Masoli woozy and ultimately knocked him out of the game, leading to a comedy of errors from his backup Chris Harper. But we're pretty sure that the quarterback who scored three rushing touchdowns and passed for another in the Holiday Bowl was not the same one that the Broncos prepared for at the beginning of the season. Check out the highlights:
Masoli will have his chance for revenge against Boise State next season when Oregon heads to the blue for the season opener. Just a sophomore, Masoli should be the starting quarterback heading into next year for the Ducks, provided they are not snakebitten by injuries yet again.
Now that we've seen Masoli at his finest and Masoli at his lowest, we're curious which Masoli will show up on September 5 in Boise. We're hoping it's the check-down, timid one ... or Chris Harper. He was a lot of fun.
