@JustBeWarned: interesting... with only three cornerbacks available today, Safety George Iloka was first team at nickel outside. Ghee slot. Allen outside.
If consistently winning 11 games a season is so easy to do in non-BCS conferences, why don't more teams do it?"
Exactly the point! Boise State doesn't just win in a "weak" conference, they win BIG in a weak conference. If it was so easy then why aren't other non-AQ programs consistently winning games with 21 or larger point spreads? Because the Broncos do to other non-AQs what the "Big Boys" do non-AQs. Crush them!
Moore's style seems to be more along the lines of ugly but gets the job done (in practice, anyway).
Nevada Safety Duke Williams(via Twitter) on Boise State:
"They say Boise State is favorite to Win the MWC, did they forget we're playing them in RENO?"
The Boise State name comes with a ton of respect these days. For the first time, the brand might actually be better than the football team.
(Benson's) presentation included several maps of potential conference mergers – one of which was titled "Makes Too Much Sense" and proposed a 33-school superconference combining the Sun Belt, C-USA, WAC and Mountain West Conference.
"There’s a stereotypical ‘I want to play in the Pac-12’ type of thing," Austin said. "I pushed that egotistical thinking aside. I wanted to find the school that best fit me, and I found that in Boise."
No Kellen Moore. No Doug Martin. No problem for Michigan State? Nope. Not by a long shot. These Broncos have a pedigree unmatched by most programs. It's a pedigree of winning certainly beyond what the Spartans have enjoyed the past decade.
Sun Belt commish Karl Benson said Jax St, Ga Southern, Liberty, App St looked into joining Sun Belt. Will now explore WAC fb membership
Big East coaches like non-geographic model -- Fla. team in each division, Texas too. Cross-division games would protect existing rivalries.... looked at east-west, north-south division splits, and "Red" and "Blue" lineups that showcase league's national reach.... have also unanimously endorsed an on-campus championship game starting in 2013. No neutral Championship Game in NYC.
