Last week marked the beginning of 2017. New year, new us right? Something like that.
Game Ball One:
Brittany Aoyama (swimming)
The Broncos have been busy in the pool. Last week Boise State participated in the University of California San Diego invitational. There Ms. Aoyama captured three races. And then, later in the week, the Broncos participated in a tri-meet where they took on Kansas and UCLA. The Broncos split the matchups beating Kansas, but falling to UCLA. In the tri-meet, Aoyama racked up another two weeks. The senior is leaving her mark for Boise State and doing it well.
Game Ball Two:
Brooke Pahukoa (basketball)
As is the case the whole year, Ms. Pahukoa has been a sharpshooter from beyond the arc. Last week she went 6-14 for three-pointers. She also had 14 points in a loss against UNLV and 15 points in the loss against San Diego State. Despite the two setbacks last week (this puts the Broncos 2-2 in the Mountain West Conference slate) Pahukoa has been consistent. Now lets turn that into more Ws.
Game Ball Three:
Chandler Hutchison (basketball)
We may as well call double-doubles the “Hutchison” as Chandler has been on quite the tear since the Mountain West Conference schedule kicked into gear. In the win against UNLV, the Broncos were running away early with the game. At one point UNLV did manage to go on a 10-0 run. And still was down by 22 points. Mr. Hutchison was a big part of that by contributing 11 rebounds and 28 points. Against San Diego State, where the Broncos did find themselves in an early hole, Hutchison put together 13 rebounds and 12 points.
Your Turn
There we go folks. Another week, some more Game Balls. Anyone else?
