Fresh from the LA Times beat writer here and on Twitter (which I can't figure out how to make the post appear directly), Boise State has earned a commitment from Corona (Centennial HS), CA defensive end Jaylen Johnson - a 3 star recruit rated 45th at his position.
I suppose now would be a good time to mention that Mr. Johnson had just returned from a visit to Oregon this past weekend and isn't scheduled to visit Boise State for two more weeks, but even AFTER tripping to Oregon and their spaceship-grade facilities, chose to commit to BOISE STATE without officially visiting (he did take an unofficial trip to Boise in the summer). WOW.
This would ALSO be a good time to mention that Mr. Johnson had scholarship offers to the following schools: Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State, TCU, and Vanderbilt (hey, at least we know there's a brain there to get offered by Vanderbilt)...among others.
Can't wait to see the kind of line we'll have with Johnson at DE or STUD and Gaines at DT. I've seen film of both, and it's scary good.
WELCOME, MR. JAYLEN JOHNSON, to BRONCO NATION!
Edit: Here's a brief scout writeup (free content) on Johnson's commitment.
