Over the weekend we were in Boise for my wife's brother's wedding. We both grew up in the Boise area, but now live in Salt Lake. My wife took advantage of us being in Boise on Father's Day to give me a grand surprise. We had a break in the wedding events and walked along the Greenbelt to Bronco Stadium.
I soon found out that my wife had coordinated a month ago for us to visit the stadium. Brad Larrondo was generous enough to take almost an hour out of his busy schedule to give us a personal tour. We took us around to the different rooms and offices. He showed up on rings in Coach Pete's office and answered every question. He was very enthusiastic and congenial. Perfect ambassador of the program. If I wasn't already a fan, I would be now. My wife and I were both very impressed by the obvious emphasis that BSU football places on grades and character. They make good men.
After the inside tour he took us out to the Blue. I'd never been on the field before so this was a real thrill for me. You can see the new field logo in the pictures. We were told that they would be moving into Football Facility at the end of July. I asked Brad about the latest thoughts on stadium expansion. The high water-table from the nearby river precludes the possibility of lowering the field. Brad said they were now planning rebuilding the lower deck of seats to change the angle. this would allow more seats and get them closer to the field. High school camp was wrapping up and my wife grabbed Coach Pete to be in a picture with me.
As we were leaving the stadium, we came across 5 of the players and got a picture with them as well. I'd be lying if I didn't say that my pulse went up when I saw Jay Ajayi. I believe Jack Fields was there as well. I would appreciate if you guys could help identify the others in the picture.
Thanks for humoring me. I had to share this with some people that would appreciate it. It was an amazing afternoon. I'm pumped for this season.
Bonus Bronco: While eating pizza at Lucky 13 for the rehearsal dinner the night before, the magnificent Gabe Linehan walked in. It was the best.
