Every year we find an impact player or two that comes out of nowhere to help our team. Jerrell Gavins, Tyrone Crawford, Demarcus Lawrence, Sam Ukwuachu, and Doug Martin. These guys were all at one point in time lowly regarded prospects, but they have paid off big dividends for the program. (Mainly because many recruiting services greatly underestimate the skill and heart of our athletes) Another guy that will help us this upcoming year is Deuce Mataele. He has all the tools; a good first step, quickness, a natural bull-rush, the ability to anchor, good height, weight, and speed, the ability to disengage off of blocks: using a club, spin, swat, or swim move. You can even move even him to end since he has the ability to dip and bend off edge. His stats in Junior College are amazing, over 15 TFL and more than 10 sacks. The coaches have been impressed by him during the spring. I expect him to be a decisive force at the 3-technique in our 4-2-5 scheme, also moving to end in our 3-man fronts. The D-line alone should be good enough to win most of the games that we play this year.
