I was in New Jersey for a wedding this weekend, and had a few hours to kill this morning before returning home via the Newark airport. So I decided to go to Carlo's Bakery, which is featured in the reality TV show "Cake Boss." My son, Jonah, is a huge fan of this show, and I knew he'd be thrilled to see some pictures and enjoy some treats from this now famous bakery run by pastry chef Buddy Valastro.
So I walk down the very hip Hoboken street, arrive at the always crowded Carlo's Bakery. . . and the first person I see walking out is wearing a Boise State sweat shirt! Of course I introduced myself as a fellow member of Bronco Nation. Turns out he and his wife are both big fans. They live in Maryland and have never been out here to Idaho, but they adopted our beloved Broncos some years ago and are now ardent supporters.
We had a great time talking and they envied my living in Boise, where I can watch the games on The Blue.
It was terrific to chance upon someone on the far away east coast (where I grew up) who shared my joy at our invitation to the Big Dance this morning!
We really do have a national following. Bronco Nation lives! And here's my fellow Bronco in front of Carlo's on a blustery spring day.
