I rarely post. I almost always check OBNUG in late afternoon. Yes I am still a regular after 4 losses! I had a bad thoughts about Pete going to UW this afternoon while working out in the pool. I come home and pull up OBNUG and there it was. It was like I knew it already before I looked on line. My reaction was like many of the other posts I read. After reading others reactions and thinking about it awhile I thought I would state my feelings/opinion. One reason I followed BSU football (I have no connections to BSU) was Coach Pete. I always thought he was a cut way above all other College football coaches. The winning helped but there were just things about BSU and coach Pete which made me a fan as much as any BSU student/alum/local. Things that stuck out to me was Coach Petes' and the teams participation in the "Make a Wish". The idea that winning games was important but if you messed up you were not going to play no matter how good you are. There seemed to be a higher level of conduct at BSU than any other school. Another good example of that is after the loss at Neveda. The Boise players were being badly verbally abused by the Nevada fans and were able to conduct themselves in a way that was far and above what most players would have. I think Coach Pete was the main reason for this high level of conduct. Unfortunately College Football is grown into a cash fed monster. Everyone including Coach Pete is caught up in it. Conference jumping,Coaching changes ect. ect. just to get an edge. It is a sorry state of affairs. I do not have a clue why Coach Pete decided to leave and why now? Others have said it is the new playoff system, he needed a change ect ect. Since none of us really know and those who know for sure will most likely never tell we'll probably never know. Knowing how Pete operates it was probably a real good reason. Probably something no one is even thinking about. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. The thing that I do not like about the situation is that it happened after a not so hot year. This does not seem to be Petes MO. This looks like rest of CFB. What I hate about all of the coaching changes it they take place BEFORE the season is over and happen quickly. I feel for the players that after they play all season hard win or lose as soon as the coach gets good offer he is gone. This also affects HS recruits. This stuff should be done AFTER the season is over. Unfortunately the fiasco at USC has found its way to Boise. Do not like the way USC handled it all the way from Kiffen to Sark. NO class whatsoever. Well Coach Pete you are still a hero to me but a diminished one. One thing we all need to remember none of us is perfect. All our heros are human-imperfect. Thus as stated before I must give Pete the benefit of the doubt. He did too many good things on the field and off to still not like and respect him. However Pete I want to close with a quote from you. "Be careful what you wish for"
