Your Boise State Men's Basketball Team, Part Two

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Meet the super subs and instant offenses of the 2013-2014 Boise State basketball team.

More basketball previews, you say? Gladly.

If you missed yesterday's player profiles, read those first so you get why I'm comparing Dezmyn Trent to Eek! the cat.

#13 | Nick Duncan | Forward

Duncan_medium

Height: 6-8

Weight: 241

Year: Freshman

Hometown: Sydney, Australia

Last school: St. Augustine's College (HS)

How he got to BSU

Duncan arrived courtesy of Boise State's Australia pipeline (coated with Outback steak sauce), a former teammate of current Bronco Aussies Anthony Drmic and Igor Hadziomerovic. He signed in April, coming off a silver medal at the U17 world championships and a call-up to Australia's U19 team. At St. Augustine's, he led the team to a fifth place finish at the Australia Schools Championship, averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds per game. He played club ball for Manly, which is my new band name. I call dibs.

Nickname: Duncan Doughnuts

Childhood cartoon character: Rocko (an Austrlian immigrant wallaby)

Highlights: This may or may not be a Nick Duncan highlights. You decide.

#25 | Dezmyn Trent | Guard

Height: 6-4

Weight: 201

Year: Freshman

Hometown: Tacoma, Washington

Last school: Foss High School

How he got to BSU / Season outlook

Trent chose Boise State over offers from Seattle, San Jose State, and Idaho and interest from Washington, Oregon State, and Gonzaga. You, too, would have people beating down your door if you were named high school basketball player of the year by the Tacoma News-Tribune, averaged a school record 27 points per game, and could dunk. As one of Washington's best basketball talents, Trent could challenge for playing time this year.

Nickname: Desserts

Childhood cartoon character: Eek! the Cat because Dezmyn Trent is scary good

HighlightsTrent's high school team was featured in a five-part documentary of their season. Guess who starred.

#4 | Thomas Bropleh | Guard

Bropleh_medium

Height: 6-5

Weight: 212

Year: Senior

Hometown: Denver, Colorado

Last school: George Washington High School

Season outlook

Bropleh has played in 94 of 97 games for Boise State over his first three years, only three games fewer than Leon Rice. Bropleh will play in 35 more this season, he'll give good energy off the bench, and he'll lead the team in scoring one time when you least expect it.

Nickname: Don't tase me Bropleh

Childhood cartoon character: Space Ghost, always reliable for some good minutes

#5 | Joe Hanstad | Guard

Hanstad_medium

Height: 6-4

Weight: 193

Year: Junior

Hometown: Dickinson, North Dakota

Last school: Dickinson High School

Season outlook

Hanstad can be a starting guard in a fix, which is a helpful asset to have during the grind of a college basketball season. He started two games last year and five games as a freshman, and he'll start more should Jeff Elorriaga or Derrick Marks ever not feel up for an Air Force or a directional Colorado. When Hanstad's hot, he can rain threes and dish with the best of them. I am not cool enough to use the word dish.

Nickname: G.I. Joe

Childhood cartoon character: Duke

#1 | Mikey Thompson | Guard

Thompson_medium

Height: 6-3

Weight: 167

Year: Redshirt sophomore

Hometown: Las Vegas, Nevada

Last school: Canyon Springs high school

Season outlook

Thompson had an important run during Boise State's Mountain West play last season, starting five straight games and leading the team in scoring against Colorado State and San Diego State. He figures to land a top reserve role and see significant minutes this season, and he's the preseason winner of Sixth Man of the Year on the ballot that the Mountain West did not ask me to submit.

Nickname: Mike & Ikes

Childhood cartoon character: Michael Jordan from ProStars
