I wanted to come out on fire for this article this week. I wanted to rage and put all that bad energy that I still haven't vented from whatever happened in Provo this weekend toward a huge CSU hate bomb. However, I racked my brain and my heart and realized that I just don't have it. Sorry, CSU. I'm too worried about what the future is going to bring here at home.
[BW], CSU, your mascot is adorable. How am I supposed to rip on this? I just want to go scratch behind his ears.
The Rams are having themselves a season. 4 wins, versus the likes of Cal Poly, Hawaii, UTEP, and Wyoming lead me to no conclusion whatsoever other than "Really? They beat Wyoming?" This season so far, CSU has equaled their win count from last season, but they're also coming up on the rough part of their schedule - Boise, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah State, and Air Force. It's possible this team could get bowl eligible with some luck (they did blow out Wyoming by a bunch), but luck just hasn't been on the Ram's side since sometime in the late 90's. They're 0-2 v. Boise State, but on a three season upswing according to the trended data.
Both times the Broncos and the Rams have played, it's been a standard Bronco stompfest. However, the standard Broncos aren't headed to Ft. Collins this weekend, and while that probably shouldn't make me nervous, I'm not quite sure how to behave as the fan of a three loss team. Can't go wrong with a heaping helping of respect for the opponent and some straight blue collar fan work ethic of cheering on the boys in Blue, I guess. (Speaking of Blue, can the team start wearing Blue pants or helmets or something soon? I feel like I'm going through withdrawals over here.)
So, Colorado State, I'd wish you luck on Saturday, but I don't really mean it. You play in green unis on green grass and got it past Rocky Long and the MWC wardrobe patrol for years, so good on ya. Your campus is beautiful, your team is coming off a win, and you are doing just what every fan who pays attention to the MWC has asked for - getting better. Let's see who wins on Saturday, yeah?
