Anyone know a good editor? Len Berman doesn't.

If you don't know who Len Berman is, I don't blame you. Berman is a former sportscaster for WNBC that parlayed his Spanning the World schtick into a gig on The Today Show and The NFL on NBC. Chances are, if you don't know who Berman is...you know his routine—the "weird and wacky" side of sports. Well, lately Berman has become quite the author—publishing a handful of books that tell of sports triumphs and tragedies wackiness. Berman seems like a fine gentleman, which is why it pains me greatly to have to sic Bronco Nation on the guy. Specifically, because of his new book The Greatest Moments in Sports: Upsets and Underdogs—a book that features Bronco great Derek Schouman on it's glossy cover, no less. The issue with Berman's magnum opus? Read on...it must be seen to be believed.

First, you should know that Bronco Nation has spies everywhere. If a bad word is uttered about Kellen Moore or if someone claims Chris Petersen is actually a cyborg...we'll hear about it. In this case, our radar was tripped by an intrepid OBNUG reader named Rand, who also happens to work at a bookstore. Rand was understandably excited when he cracked open a fresh box of The Greatest Moments in Sports: Upsets and Underdogs and saw Boise State front and center. It was what he found inside this tome that is inexcusable...especially coming from a "New York Times" best-selling author (sarcastic quotes added for effect). Check out the Fiesta Bowl section of the book (click to embiggen):

I mean, can you believe that he used the word "zaniest"...that's just...WAIT, WHAT?! "Ride 'em, COWBOYS"?! Okay, okay...maybe this is some sort of subtle hat tip to Barry Switzer, who as I recall, was in the broadcast booth that night. Yeah, that must be it...

Len Berman, you are dead to me.

Len Berman treated us like common Wyoming...and for that, he must be punished the best way the internet knows how—through snarky Amazon.com customer reviews (of which, this book currently has NONE). 1-star might be too generous for this book (although it does also tell the tale of the epic Superbowl defeat of the mighty New Haven Patriots at the hands of the New York Chieftains).

This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.
