I know the impassioned fans let the emotions fly like water drops on a hot skillet. So offer what I gleaned from Coach Chris Petersen's most recent insights and turned it into a very short essay of what I was hearing the coach say.
"Its not the coaches or the players. Its a condition that besets the team. Coach Petersen touched on it strongly by saying the change is not with people, but in people. That change in people is Confidence. New coaches and new players will have to mature to a confident level. The talent is there as well as the plan. Slight hesitations, translates into a game of inches on catches, runs, and tackles. Maturity of play and play calls comes from confidence. Right now the the only source of confidence is from the defense. Where the offense can draw from and find out how good they really are as a team. Knowing that the defense has the edge, will allow the offense to play full on, They can let all go and not be tight at the line of scrimmage. The young guys are pervasive throughout the team. In one game they can become the old guys and then watch out. BYU game was perhaps a coming of football age for the Broncos. Confidence will rule the game if the offense asks the defense to trust them as they partner together in New Mexico as a team. The defense is there to allow the offense to come of age as a great unit.
