Hi, BYU reporter back again.
First off, wanted to share that I got to ask coach pete a few questions over the phone and it's amazing how a guy who has been one of the most successful coaches on the planet is so approachable and humble. Gotta respect that man.
Well I dove into some research for a story I wrote which got published into BYU's The Universe. Boise State is the symbol of consistency at home. I never fully realized just how dominant BSU is at home. They have gone 83-3 since 1999. No wonder big time programs don't want to play there, which is rather unfortunate.
The only "big" wins at home came against Oregon and Oregon State during that span. (correct me if I am wrong). Of course, there have been big steps forward for the program such as winning bowl games on The Blue when BSU was still a young program.
Well, we have now seen Boise State play Miami, and now seen BYU play Utah.
Any new takes on the game? What more do we know about these teams?
BYU's defense is still tough and looks good, but it's BYU's offense that seemed a little sketch this past weekend. BYU may be needing the help of a few Boise State turnovers to win this game. I was impressed with Boise's running game in particular, but Southwick also quietly impressed (after the first couple possessions).
For those interested, here is a link to my published article on Boise State's home field dominance:
P.S. Sorry the Cougars couldn't have provided another ranked opponent for your strength of schedule, but we'd like to thank you for getting ranked prior to the game
Looking forward to the game on Thursday!
