The Big East is out of the Orange Bowl
Starting after the 2014 season, the ACC champion will now face either Notre Dame or an SEC or Big 10 at large team. This is obviously a blow for the Big East however I have to agree with Brian Murphy that Boise State's move to the Big East is about the money, so until a new TV deal is signed, I'm going to try to withhold judgement. Also, there is a lot of unknown in the new playoff structure with even the possibility of 8 major bowls. Still lots to sort out.
D.J. Harper named Mountain West Co-Offensive Player of the Week
The MWC sure doesn't like to hurt anyone's feelings. They seem to be in love with splitting their awards. In the past I just chalked it up to feeling bad that they kept giving it to Kellen Moore and they wanted to spread some love. This week they decided to split it with Fresno State's Robbie Rouse who had a pretty spectacular day himself rushing for 144 yards on only 9 carries and adding 42 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, I just wish the MWC would be a little more decisive.
A lot of people were joking about this question on Twitter so the Salt Lake Tribune's Jay Drew asked BYU. The answer was yes. They only refuse to schedule games on Sunday. Glad we got that cleared up!
Check out a hook and double lateral
Buffalo State knocked off University of Wisconsin-Whitewater who had won 46 straight games including 3 Division III championships with the play. It was 4th and 19 when they pulled it out. Nice wrinkle, but it just shows how well executed Boise State's was from spacing to the timing.
Happy Birthday
Happy birthday to current player Dustin Kamper!
