Ok, who watched the Utah BYU game last night?
I did and it was fun to watch until it ended in similar fashion to the game that never happened and I had to remember that game and empathize.
My thoughts and then share yours below if you watched too:
- Bronco Nation needs to come out and be loud, louder than we ever been. While there's talk that the Utah defensive line was yelling and imitating snap counts, RES was one loud stadium and it wreaked havoc on Riley Nelson and his squad. I couldn't find a specific number but I think BYU had 5 false starts last night. Nelson had the look of defeat on his face all night, body language showed the same look.
- Speaking of Nelson, I'm not that impressed. While BYU fans showed excitement for him after dealing with Jake Heaps I didn't hop on the bandwagon. He looked good last year but he played against all of their worst opponents. IMO, Utah last night was his toughest test and he didn't 't handle it very well. It's crazy to think that Southwick has a better pocket presence and mental smartness than Nelson but I'm convinced he does after what I saw last night.
- Jaamal Williams is the real deal. I still think he's a lying turd making BSU look like all they care about is showing off the bling to recruits but he's going to be a good back for BYU it he years to come. Here's to Jack Fields being better.
- Bronco Mendenhall is not an elite coach. I credit BYU's stout defense to him but in terms of game management Kyle Whittingham has bested him 3 years in a row now. We all now who bests Kyle Whittingham... Las Vegas Bowl anyone?
