This is a question I often ask Bronco fans whenever I meet them outside of Idaho. Why do you cheer on the Broncos? And "because they are the baddest-ass football team ever" is a good answer but not valid. You did not just wake up one morning with divine revelation that you were going to don blue and orange for the rest of your life. Something happened to make you a Bronco. What was it?

Me? It was a girl. I was just getting interested in college football and watched Boise State whoop OU in the Fiesta Bowl. I had never heard of Boise State, but I disliked Oklahoma (for other various reasons), so I watched. I was impressed. So I kept watching them, whenever a game was on national TV -- which was not often. But I was really solidified when I met a real honest to goodness Vandal alum. I was dating this girl and she took me home to meet her family in Boise. I was going to ask her dad for his blessing to marry his daughter, but when he found out that I was a Bronco fan he actually told her that if she married me he would take her out of his will. As a result I have a deep seeded hatred for anything silver and gold. Vandal is a dirty word in my house.

It is it embarrassing to be dumped by a girl for such a petty reason? Yes. But I share that embarrassment with you, my fellow Nuggies, so that we may never forget the pathetic-ness of dUI. Now your turn.
